Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

North MacedoniaThe only problem I can list is the sound-proofing of the room, the walls are really thin and you can hear everything from the common space and the other rooms. Other than that, everything was up to standard
The host was great, the location near the Vatican is good, with a metro station nearby. The room was as advertised, clean and comfortable

United KingdomThe only downside I found was getting out of the gated complex on checking out...you need a key to enter/exit the external gate, which if you've already handed in your keys, is a very big problem (especially when there's a key also needed to enter the apartment complex where the B&B is, which you would also have just returned)! I was lucky enough that someone was driving out at the time I left (7ish in the morning), but could easily forsee that you could have problems if leaving when noone else was about and were leaving (and/or there was no staff available at the B&B). If you weren't so lucky, you'd be looking at throwing your luggage over the high fence and trying to scale it.... This is definitely something that the B&B needs to improve on - maybe have some separate external keys that you could then drop into a lockbox, outside the gate?
Convenient location, only a couple of hundred metres, downhill, from Valle Aurelia. Note, the B&B is located within an apartment building, so can be a bit difficult to get into and find, initially (there's an outside gate, an apartment block gate, then the B&B is on the 1st floor). It's close to the Vatican and about 2 kilometres from Castel Sant'Angelo, and the main tourist attractions are easily accessible via the cheap metro (8 euros for 2 days travel!). Valle Aurelia is easy to get to from the Airport, though it's probably easiest to take the train to Roma Trastavere and then get the tram (otherwise you can spend 30 minutes waiting at, I think, Roma Aurelia). There's a park just above Valle Aurelia where you can get a nice view of the city (Parco di Monte Ciocci). The rooms are fairly small, but okay for a solo traveller or couples (I wouldn't recommend for families, unless other rooms are far larger). The bathroom was a good size. Everything was nice and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the room, and I think you can make an espresso in the dining area. I'm not sure how the breakfast was - it's Italy, so I just picked up breakfast/lunch on the move at metro stations. Food wise, there's some reasonable options nearby: La Fornace is just down the road and is a well known neighbourhood restaurant that does great Italian; I tried Al Jolly Ristorante Pizzeria just around the corner, too, and it was also good. For a cheap and cheerful kebab, I can recommend Turkish Kebap on Via Cipro (just around the corner from Al Jolly). I didn't find anywhere nearby good for breakfast, so might be worthwhile eating at the B&B. I'd happily return - cheap and cheerful, pleasant staff, great location to and from the airport and tourist attractions.
