Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Nice hotel with beautiful garden. The interior is in chalet style, which suites the mountain area. Dinner was not available as the cook was off duty; however, they ordered a food delivery for us. Srilankan breakfast was delicious. The room was comfortable and clean.

PolandIt's a really nice, cosy place, and we enjoyed it so much that we decided to prolong our stay in Nuwara Eliya. The staff is very friendly, caring and helpful. They serve delicious breakfast and tea (try the cinnamon one!). The area is rather calm and quiet, short walk from the city centre. The room was clean and comfortable, and had two balconies with a great view other the mountains. Very much recommended!

We loved The Hill Town Cottage. It is beautifully built with lots of hardwood flooring and wall panels. Our room was spacious and airy. The large bed was very comfortable. Outside of our first floor room is a large common area with comfortable sofa and arm chairs. If you are lucky with the weather you can have your breakfast at the table on the lawn. Although it is only a 10 minute walk into town the Cottage is peaceful and very quiet at night. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Ragu was excellent, he cooked a huge breakfast each morning, gave good advice on what to do in nuwara elliya and always offered us tea and coffee when we came back to this guest house. Highly recommended!

SlovakiaThe place was very nice and very clean. The staff was super helpful, it was walking distance to the centre. They helped us arrange a tuktuk for a day trip. Hot tea and cookies available free of charge throughout the day. Breakfast was delicious, adjusted to our preferences. Because of the cold weather in the region, we got extra blankets and we got really nice hot shower with enough pressure.

Germany-
We spent two nights in the hill town cottage and really enjoyed the hospitality and the atmosphere of this gorgeous old mansion. The hosts are attentive and communicative. We location is quiet but perfect for discovering Nuwara Eliya, everything is within walking-distance. What we love most is the extra comy living room and the good water pressure of the warm shower.

NorwayThis place! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I had originally only booked two nights, but ended up staying for four. Ragoo is the most kind and attentive host. He took me on a beautiful hike through the tea plantations, for scooter rides to see amazing views and waterfalls and did his absolute best to make my stay as good as possible. Spacious rooms, clean, great shower, two balconies and a beautiful garden where I had my breakfast in the sun and read my book with a cup of tea (or ten). Ragoo and Chamila cooked amazing food, and catered to my allergies. Chamila even made me Lawariya (a rice noodle pancake filled with coconut caramel and cardamom). It was absolutely incredible! I’ve had the best days of my Sri Lanka trip at the Hill Town Cottage. Felt like being with family. Would definitely come back! And I can’t recommend this place enough 💛 Thanks for having me ☺️

I enjoyed my stay here! The room was clean, basic but all you need as out most of the day sight seeing. Super cute cottage with a very homely/cosy feel. Ragu was the main staff member I saw and he was so helpful with things to do and made a great breakfast! Also gave me some extra blankets as it gets super cold at night.

NetherlandsIt was clean. A bit outdated but very nice and comfortable. Ragu took very good care of us and provided us with everything we needed or wanted. We did a long, beautiful hike with him through the tea plantages and little communities which we ended with some amazing local food. We got some great recommendations and they were all better than expected. We got amazing breakfast (Sri Lankan) and had a wonderful stay.

Lovely room with balcony overlooking the outskirts of town. The young lad who looked after my breakfast was very helpful after I had a fall on a walk amongst the tea plantations. He arranged a tuk to take me to the station and even provided me with a box to safely carry a delicate little boat I had bought some days earlier.

United StatesHot water was really inconsistent, but I spoke with the manager and she said it has to do with the gas-powered hot water heater. It was just uncomfortable to be shivering all soaped-up waiting for several minutes for the water to get hot again. The guy who works there was very aggressively trying to be helpful. It was off-putting.
Really beautiful guesthouse and comfortable bed! A little tricky to find (don't trust Google maps), but quiet area.
