Beautiful country property sitting on some 15 acres with orange trees, vegetable gardens and a chicken coop. Angela was so sweet and received us with open arms. Though we arrived late, she was kind enough to prepare a quick supper for us and offer a GF option. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. There is even a little shop on site selling local products. We had a wonderful stay.

We liked everything

The place is magical. It has so much space to discover around the houses, fruits and veg gardens, chickens (with loads of space to roam) with beautiful gardens, fireplace in each casa, also it has amazing history too. We're definitely coming back again!

Everything!... beauty and tranquility of the property, privacy of the studio cottage and lovely large veranda overlooking greenery and the river, staff and owner welcome, some food and wine options, proximity to the city and surrounding sights such as the Mateus Palace, etc.

Everything was great! The staff was very welcoming and we had fresh bread every morning! The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. We are definitely coming back :)

A lovely setting, comfy, clean and well equipped. Fresh bread was delivered every morning and the log basket was topped up daily. The receptionist was absolutely delightful. We were a bit unlucky with the weather but on a sunny day it would be idyllic. Thank you.

We liked everything, if I have to mention something it would be the sound from the road above.

A piece of paradise! We stayed in one of the stone houses, made our own food, sat under the wine branches. Swam in the pool. Took a lovely morning walk by the river (took left when we came to the river, found old ruins and a stream. In the evenings people sat by the main building eating tapas. Looked very cozy even though we didn’t.

The location is beautiful and so peaceful. We stayed in a spacious and well-equipped self-catering stone casa. The grounds are extensive and very well maintained. The swimming pool is superb and so quiet and relaxing. The maps provided to us when we checked in were brilliant - we were able to explore the Douro and the Parque Natural do Alvão by car, as well take the riverside walk into the town of Vila Real. We self catered, but we made good use of the "Honesty Shop" at reception for local produce.

There was some noise from the highway but didn’t find it bothersome. The bath towels smelled a little musty.

We enjoyed everything about this place. It was really rather magical. Very interesting project. Beautifully landscaped. Wonderful home grown food. Not a huge menu but everything was fresh and delicious. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Unfortunately they built a motorway close to the site and this cause some noise, but unoticed into the rooms.

It’s an incredible place with hospitable staff. It’s also a great spot from where you can explore the north of Portugal and Douru valley.
