We had to request additional toiletries (toilet paper) each day instead of it being left at our room. The distance from the main road to the rooms was a bit far and bumpy.

We loved the size of our room and having our own private courtyard. We felt very comfortable and safe and enjoyed the pool right on the beach. The views from the pool/beach are amazing. The staff were lovely and assisted us with pick up and drop offs from the pier, cheap bike hire and anything else we needed. The location was great, far enough way from the busy areas that it was quiet at night but we would recommend hiring a bike to get around. It is quite a walk from the road to the rooms so we found the bike handy.

No bar or restaurant here but we didn't find it an issue, we bought supplies from 7/11 and we went to Macro and bought food to make our own breakfast.

Absolutely beautiful little villa with small pool outside in a small enclosed garden for each villa with two sun loungers and a table and chairs also. Fully equipped kitchen with hob, microwave, fill size fridge and freezer and utensils and crockery. Table and chairs in kitchen, bed was huge and super comfy, massive tv with netflix. WiFi was absolutely super and no issue. Well appointed and large bathroom and absolutely immaculate and spotless. We loved our time here, beach a 1 min walk with lovely pool and loungers. Sunset was spectacular sat here and whilst the sea isn't the best for swimming as it's very shallow it's calm with such soft sand also.

Was all good. Only downside is the missing restaurant but I can understand that it most likely simply doesn't make financial sense to run the restaurant. There are plenty of food options close by, so not really a problem that the hotel does not open the restaurant. ✌️

Very nice staff. Great location right on the beach with a well sized pool also right at the beach. Sea view 3 I can totally recommend.

Not a bad thing but was a 10/15 min drive to central locations. 300/400 baht to most places which isn’t bad at all so just use taxi numbers from reception

Staff were so friendly, property was AMAZING. Lovely pool, room was very modern and clean. Good wifi, offer massages for extra on the beach which was lovely. Overall best place we’ve stayed in Thailand so far.

Right in the middle of the island, not far from one of the piers where the boat from Koh Samui gets. Room was very nice and spacious (we got a beach view one) which was right in front of the swimming pool and beach. Couldn’t ask for more! Another super plus is the girl at reception. She is super professional, honest and always with a smile in her face. Would def come back!!

Not that much privacy because the separations between the villas were with very thin bushes so people from around you could see everything.

If you don’t have a scooter or car, this is a pretty long walk to downtown Thongsala and restaurants.

There were 2 dogs, one was really friendly (the ginger coloured one) the other not so much and you can’t really swim in the beach so you need a scooter to get to better beaches

Beautiful bungalow with more than everything you need, the pool was amazing, the gardens were lovely with lots of birds and butterflies The kitchen was well equipped, the bedroom and bathroom was like being in a top hotel, the mattress is really comfortable and the pillows are like comfy clouds The rest of the resort is lovely looking and well maintained, the main pool is really nice with a great view onto the beach In a good location, there are a couple of good restaurants on the main road and a big supermarket 10/15 mins walk

Nothing particular. I can imagine that if I really wanted to look for small details, I might find something, but Samutra Residence was so great that I would have to be a strongly negative person to find any flaws.

Very pleasant and peaceful place. We had a bungalow right by the pool with a sea view. The owner is caring, he came to pick us up at the ferry for free. And every morning he cleaned the pool and his colleagues cleaned the paths, the entrance to the beach and the surroundings of the bungalows (they did it twice a day actually). Cleaning services in the room are available on request (just put a tag on the door handle), we used the cleaning service 4 times during the week. Two people cleaned the room for almost 40 minutes, very detailed (even the windows). I have never experienced that detailed cleaning anywhere in the Thai islands. You always get clean towels (for the bathroom and the pool). The resort is very peaceful. Since several bungalows have their pools, there are not many people at the main pool and you will usually be there alone or with one other couple. If you are okay with the hotel not serving breakfast, the kitchen is intended more for serving your takeaway food, so you will be satisfied. We also rented a scooter at the resort, the price was fair (and we didn't have to walk anywhere to the rental place). The only thing to remember is that the sea is tidal so that you can swim there after about 5:00 pm (in July). But we knew that, so it didn't bother us. If we go to Ko Phangan again, we will come back here.

The room was only cleaned when asked for, which isn't bad in itself. But on the one day we asked for it to be cleaned, I came back to the room to find the cleaning staff in the bed...actually under the covers. Not at all what I wanted to see. The garden didn't feel particularly private, as other rooms can easily see in. The staff also used it quite often as a short cut.

We stayed in a room with a private plunge pool for 5 nights, and it was great. The room was clean on arrival and comfortable. It has a basic kitchen, with fridge and freezer. Water was provided, and there was good hot water and air conditioning. We hired motorbikes for the day through the hotel, which was easy and also a good price. We also had some laundry washed which was handy. The location is fairly good for the half moon party, but still quiet so you're not disturbed. There is no bar in the hotel, but you have a few other resorts very close by on the beach for drinks or dinner.

shower pressure wasn’t strong. only 2 pillows on the bed for 2 people. restaurant closed to had to ride to 7/11 if needed drink or food. no signage for hotel on the main road and if no gps would struggle to find the hotel.

The bungalows are situated right next to the beach and the infinity pool is great with an amazing view and the beach was nice. The bungalows are big and clean. having a personal plunge pool was great to have a little dip when getting hot. The staff seemed okay, possibly could be more engaging. They look after the grounds well and it has a nice feel. we came a little out of season so we got a really great price for the room and would defiently stay here again if I came back to phanghan. The staff clean the room well daily.
