Location was great because you don't need a car to walk to the different trails that were within 2 to 10 minutes walking distance - Misty Trail, Tea Trail, Sunset Trail, Sakura Trail etc . The owner is very warm hearted and generous. I enjoyed our conversations, and she also taught me quite a bit about tea.

Didn't like the bathroom, which has a drop of more than 30cm or a foot ! This is very dangerous, especially when the floor is wet after shower. Anyone can slip and fall! Secondly, the shower is positioned right next to the door and the toilet bowl is inside after passing through shower area. This is a design failure. Thirdly, the 2 tables provided in the room are knee height, which made it difficult very difficult to work on it.

It is a long walk uphill from the town, wouldn't be a problem for people with a car. The lack of towels is stated in the app but it would still be nicer for them to be available.

Very pretty view. Long but very pretty walk from the nearest station. If you dont want to walk, they offer to pick you up for a small fee. Rooms were nice and clean.

Far away from everything so you need a transportation method. No proper towels for showers which is a shame. Rooms are very basic but clean.

For a single traveler, it is quite expensive.

The host was very friendly and communication via Google translate worked well. It is a beautiful environment between tea and coffee fields! The 30 min walk from the bus station is a scenic but steep trail. Well worth it!

A bit far to the nearby town to get food. We use public transport or walk to all our destinations. So, if you don't mind walking, then this is fine.

Mao Hsin Homestay is a tea farmhouse. It is in the town of Shizhuo on your way to Alishan Forest Recreational Park. It is surrounded by other tea farms but not near to any shops, you will have to prepare your own meals and utensils. We love it here because it is close to all the beautiful and mystical trails, which I bet you have never seen anywhere else. The stay itself is simple but pleasant. The view from the accomodation is spectacular.

Beautiful little house in the mountains. Takes an hour by bus to Alishan Recreational Area. Nicely located between bamboo forests and tea fields. Very calm and grounding.

The blanket provided for the bed was a little small for me and my other roommate. I wish there was a spare blanket in the room. Otherwise, it is no big deal. I love the place, so I have bookmarked it for my future re-booking.

The owner of the accommodation was extremely kind and very charismatic. She allowed us to be a late check-in. She greeted us and gave us advice on what to do in the surrounding area and neighborhood. The owner also gave us a tour of the property and introduce us to all the facilities available. The WiFi of the property is great. The parking space is very spacious for large vehicles. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom of our private room was clean. We checked out at 3 AM to head to the Alishan National Park - the process was easy and simple. We wished we stayed longer to enjoy the amenities it has provided.

Its quite hard to get to the location with public transport. the buss stop at the village but then you have to walk all the way up which is about one hour. in my case the lady was so nice to get us, but normally she doesn’t do this, it’s just because her son had promised me. the stay is very basic, but for this you get a unique and lovely experience, so I’d say it’s totally worth it!

Though the facility is decent but we have a bit problem with hot water. You have to do some tricks to get a proper temperature.

Reasonable price. The view from the balcony is pretty.

The views are spectacular. Western tourists may find the bathroom (no separation for shower) less luxurious than they are accustomed to... and the mattress is typically harder than those found in the West. But the owner is VERY kind (e. g., offering a free ride into town). And the peace and quiet and exceptional vistas (photographers set up on the road leading to the hotel nightly) are well worth it.

For rating 8 and price (2 times expensive than in the city) we expected high quality. We took decision to stay because wanted to have experience with homestay. But owner had interest to business only.
