Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandStaff in this place is amazing! Unluckily a typhoon started during our stay and all public transportation from Fenqihu was suspended, but the host offered to drive us to the nearest train station. This hotel is a family business and you can feel it in it's homely atmosphere. The host also instructed us on our way to Alishan and gave us a very handy map of the area. It's worth to stay in Fenqihu for 2-3 days to explore surroundings and eat some local specialities.

SingaporePlease do your homework to reach the property from the train station or bus station. Google Map is inaccurate. I didn't know, and i pulled my luggage up and down many stairs to look for the property. Once I know the best way, I just need to pull the luggage up 2 staircases and up slope to reach the bus terminal when I checked out.
Very friendly staff. I think it is a 'big family' owned business. The male boss is very helpful in introducing the environment and the transport and the way to navigate around AliShan and Fenqihu. The lady boss offered breakfast as a bonus. Other staff are helpful, too. Feel the safety and the protection of this property.

United StatesNo A/C so reconsider for summer. Noise from street not too bad for us. The shower is in the same room as the restroom so everything gets wet. The drains were slow to drain.
Located centrally though initially hard to find. Google maps is not very good for fenqihu Nice front desk people who were helpful in recommendations

SingaporeNone, we totally enjoyed our stay here.
Place was very conveniently located right in an alley within the Fenchihu old town area, but yet very quiet for a good night sleep. Room was very clean, bed was super comfortable for sleeping and drinking water refills provided just outside the room. We got a free upgrade to a bigger room which has a view of the mountain, so that was very much appreciated. Best of all, we were running low on cash so it was good that they allowed us to use credit card for payment. We stayed 3 nights and would definitely recommend this place to other travellers.

TaiwanThe staff was accomodating specially big thanks to our kababayan which is also staff there. (thank you ate for helping us 😍) And also, like the location of the hotel because it is near in fenqihu old street. The room was nice, clean and quiet. Very comfortable to stay at. They will also explain to you how to explore Alishan National Recreation Forest which is not common in other hotel (I guess), it such a big help for those who will have DIY tour like us. 👍 Also, they will assist you if you are having a hard time looking for a car going back and forth to hotel and Alishan. Overall, if you are looking where to stay, choose this Villa/Hotel. Highly recommended. 😊👍👍👍

FranceNo heating in the rooms, be ready to fight the cold room when you get out of bed, and there's no shower curtain so the floor is constantly wet.
The bed was comfortable, the sheets were comfortable and thick. I slept well. There wasn't much noise at night during my stay. The shower had hot water.

TaiwanThe room location is very good. It is near to Fenqihu train station and bus stand. Due to the low cost of lodging, I advise anyone planning to visit Alishan, stay in Fenqihu and visit other areas (fenqihu). There are several turning points along Alishan, thus it is advisable to take motion sickness medication.

PolandThis place was an amazing experience. The room was tidy and clean, everything was as expected. But the people at the desk were so helpful with everything. The lady who owns the place also has a tea shop really close by - she invited me over for tea tasting and it turned out to be a 3-hour long conversation about life and whatnot. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody who thinks of going to Alishan area.
