I have stayed at the Blue Swallow on previous occasions on my roadtrips around the states. The owners always go above and beyond with each experience.

The room was small but cozy and comfortable ..we expected the room to be smaller than today's standards. It added to the ambience of years gone by.

For anyone wanting a true Route 66 experience, we recommend a night's stay at the Blue Swallow..the owners Rob and Dawn were excellent hosts, and the decor was so nostalgic.

This is not meant as criticism, but know the era of construction. We turned on wall heater as it was cold but it had loud bang heating up. We were fine with no heat on till morning

The owner had enthusiasm for the area and his historic motel. He took great pride in showing the property . You have to realize the era of the construction, which is what we liked.

I didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t stay another night. This is a great motel!

This is a vintage motel with retro appointments the most unique of which is a fully functional rotary dial telephone in the room. Rob and Dawn are awesome owners/hosts. Rob’s special coffee blend is outstanding.

    Classic Route 66 experience

The Blue Swallow is one of the oldest motels still operating on Route 66. It is in beautiful shape thanks to the friendly (new-ish) owners, but at the same time, it is like stepping back into a golden era. Everything is classic from the rooms (smaller than modern chain motel rooms) to the decor, to the carports, to the '50s music playing on the speakers when you arrive. Even the rotary phone in our room really worked. If that is the experience you are going for, you will not be disappointed.

We loved absolutely everything about The Blue Swallow!! It was like stepping back into time, but included some modern day conveniences. The owner greeted us with a short tour and history of the property. He then sent us to a really great restaurant where the people and food were wonderful. In the morning, the coffee and conversation were flowing. Felt more like staying with family than renting a room. We will definitely be back! I advise anyone that is driving on Route 66 through New Mexico to plan their trip to include a stay in this wonderful property!
