How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Unfortunately one of the lifts wasn't working. A man who help with luggages and transfers/taxis called as Frank is a rude guy, doesn't know how to deal with people.
Excellent location and value for money. Manhattan is very expensive. Coffee, tea, water machine at first floor. I`d like to make a special acknowledgment to a concierge employee Mr Eddie. Very kind and usefull !!!

When we visited it was a renovation going on with the elevators. Sometimes we had to wait very long for the elevator and a few times we even had to take the stairs when we waited very long. This was not good. We missed a fridge in the room. It said we should have a room with a view. It was a view into another building. What was good was that the room was in the corner of the building so it was not so much noise from people walking by, nor traffic.
The location is the best! The staff was very nice and helpful except for the man in charge of the luggage. The room was clean and good size. The beds and linen were very comfortable. One of the 2 elevators was out of order, so every morning there was a delay. This is a hotel with 30 floors so imagine... The carpet in the room was not clean. The door of the room had a gap when closed!
Best location ever. Everything close by and most of all the amazing Bryant Park. Metro station in 2 minutes. Free coffee machine with LAVAZZA coffee and free filtered water, all day long...

One of the guys (gray hair with a black baseball cap) next to the ATM, at the luggage his main job is getting vans for visitors if you ask him to do anything he is really rude and is not patient. You will not have a mini fridge in your room. Sadly the elevator is under maintenance so the checked-out can be a little crazy.
Kenia at the front desk is kind and full of good recommendations, helpful, and patient with kids. The cleaning is good and the surroundings are safe enough. there is only one homeless person and it's right next to a really good Poke place. They did provide a pack and play not a crib but it was good enough.

The lighting in the bathroom was very dark. Hard to put on makeup.
I liked the location a lot. The staff were very helpful and I would stay there again.

First room we had wasn't good, very small beds, quite dingy with a large number of aircon units under the window which kept us awake all night, staff changed us to a far better room
Great location just off 5th Avenue by the library so central for everything, subway station 2 minutes walk. Hotel was clean

An extra coffee machine on the mezzanine would be nice. The line backs up quite a bit first thing in the morning.

The coffee machine which also make great hot chocolate (common for guests at Mezzanine) broke down for a couple of days!
The location was really great for the plans of the family! Skating rink, hop on hop off station, food of many types, proximity to Grand Central, etc…

The beds are quite small for a couple (we stayed in a room with two double beds), but otherwise very comfortable!

Nothing unexpected. I would have loved a hotel bar or an in room mini bar but these were not promised so it is my expectation that was mismatched, nothing the hotel could have done differently. All in a great experience for a budget trip.
The hotel was basic but great value for money. The team were welcoming, helpful and courteous. The room was clean. The free tea and coffee and warm cider were very much appreciated. All good. Basic and inexpensive but worth every cent.
