Ballarat is terrific.
Ballarat is terrific. Full of history, culture and shopping. Lake Wendouree and the Botanic gardens are always a delight. Lunch at Craigs Hotel Atrium was very special and a good price. The Gallery always has something new to see as the exhibits change often. Eureka Stockade museum is a really good exhibition and tells the story of the Rebellion. The King Bakery on Sturt street has THE BEST vanilla slices and meat pies. Yellow Espresso next door does a great coffee too. Op shops are well situated. Messer & Opie is a really nice Men's & Women's clothing shop in the Bridge street Mall. I would have liked to have walked in the downtown area but I didn't know how to pay for parking. The main purpose of being in Ballarat was to visit Sovereign Hill which we could have spent so much more time at. This was better than we had expected. Ballarat is a historical gem, it reeks of history everywhere you go and is easy to get around. The restaurants, cafes, pubs and people we met were all great. The room was spacious, well appointed, clean, nothing was broken, and the bed was comfy as! I also arrived on a near 40 degree day and the lovely owners had been in and turned the air-con on before my arrival so I walked into a cool and refreshing room after my travel. Without a doubt one of the better hotels I've stayed at, and is now my go to motel if I ever stay in Ballarat again. Thankyou!
