Everything was great, as advertised and in the pictures. It was a nice surprise on our trip. It was quiet, with lot of local restaurants around. Beach is 5min walking distance, but I recommend to visit Playacar beach more on south. Beaches to north from accomodation tend to be overcrowded. Parking spot in garage was very helpful. Photos are from our check out.

It was a very nice unit in a convenient location (once we found it). We didn't use it but the rooftop looked fun. Pleasant but not a hotel or a resort, so bring your own shampoo/conditioner, etc.

RIVA Playa Sur provides accommodation within 1.2 km of the centre of Playa del Carmen, with free WiFi, and a kitchenette with a fridge, a stovetop and kitchenware. We had a great time at Riva. We stayed almost a month. The location was really good: Very close to the beach and main attractions. We had all the essential amenities in our stay (including cooking utensils). Room was big. Very comfy. The host (Jair) and staff were super nice to us all the time, we had a small issue with the water and they immediately resolved it and even gave us a small present for the inconvenience 😀. The apartment was very clean and very pretty. The pool upstairs was also a nice place to be around, big area, clean pool and the view really cool. Wifi was working perfectly in all areas. Next time we'll definitely be back and stay there again!

Location is great with easy access to everything in Playa del Carmen. Remo, the property manager was spectacular. He was very responsive and a gracious host.
Having spent some time in Cancun, (zona hotelera) before visiting playa del Carmen, I think I would definitely prefer the beaches in Cancun. Playa del Carmen had a lot of seaweed and I found that unpleasant. The sea was alright, the facilities we didn't use because our accommodation was right in front of the beach.
Less crowdy and touristy than Cancun, much more beautiful and practical than Tulum. Stick to the eastern part of the fifth avenue which is much less turisty and has some wonderful local restaurants and brunch places
It was an unexpected delight. It's a walkable city close to the beach. It comes alive at night and is so serene to navigate through. The structure of the buildings are gorgeous. I loved also being around the people of Playa Del Carmen; I loved the local feel to it.
The beach wasn't swimmable because it had a lot of rocks, a lot of seaweed and the hotel didn't clean it. Go to Cancún, Playa del Carmen is not beautiful. The resort: Yucatan princess was the worst part, as the food served there was horrible. I came home very sad.
PDC is ideally located for first time tourists to. Riviera Maya. A 5 to 7 day itinerary will allow you the option of day trips to several tourist attractions and activities in rge region, such as Chichen Itza, Valladolid, Cozumel Island, Coba & Tulum historical sites besides the sandy beaches, and water sports.
I went there to see a dentist. The cost to fly there and stay for week plus the dental visit was less than my cost do it here at home. So, I was there for a week. The beaches are beautiful and the sun is strong! PDC has a busy shopping district that you have to see. 5th Ave is about 2 miles of shops and restaurants and other services like massages and pharmacies. Lots of junk and somewhat aggressive shopkeepers trying to get you into their store. The roads that run parallel to 5th are also full of shops and restaurants, but at a much quieter pace. 1st and 10th Ave are a welcome relief from the hustles on 5th. Be aware of scammers on 5th saying "remember me from the hotel" also you will be offered weed and cocaine many times a day when you walk up and down 5th Ave. You will get used to saying "no thank you" and just keep saying it. PDC is safe, just keep you're head on straight and don't get too drunk while you're there. And make smart decisions. PDC is a 3 hour bus ride to Chichen Itza and that is the must see of any trip the region.
