Zen Kyoto Hotel and Apartment made our winter here super comfortable. The room is thoughtfully designed with everything you need for both short and longer stays. The kitchen is well equipped. Heating works well. There's a washing machine - there's no dryer but the bathroom has a dehumidifying clothes drying setting that dries your clothes in a few hours. Better than a dryer as it doesn't shrink your sweaters! The staff is lovely. The building is a short easy walk to the train station. Great value for money. We'd definitely stay again.

This property only recently opened and still looks brand new. Very well integrated design. It felt a little like a very high end motor home or yacht, compact and functional. At the price I paid, an exceptional bargain; although I fear the price will go up.

Don’t be fooled by the 3 star grading. It’s far better than many four or even five stars that I have stayed in big cities in Japan. It’s spacious, tastefully designed, sparkling clean and quiet. Its staff is efficient and helpful. All these locate in a central place of main tourism attractions of Kyoto, many of them are with walking distance. No breakfast is provided, but, with the Familymart two minutes away you get everything you need.

But Kyoto Takasegawa Bettei is in a completely different league. The quality of service is the best I have recived so far. The cedar bath is fantastic, but as if you like there is a famous public bath 5 min walk away. There are plenty of cafes in the area, where vegetarians will also find something for themselves. The subway and buses are also a few minutes away. Definitely recommended.ArekYoung couple

A smart TV so you can catch up with Netflix or do some research on YouTube. Staff were welcoming and very helpful with lots of information about what to do nearby. Several dining options nearby from fast food to local casual spots. 2 mins walk to Gojo subway stop - 1 or 2 stops to the main shopping area although we walked it most days in about 17minutes. 10 minutes walk to Kyoto Station. Also a number of bus stops nearby.

You have an entire apartment to yourself, upper floor for two bedrooms, ground floor for living space and study. There’s two baths, one is a large size one. Place is one, well heated, excellent washing machine, a kitchenette for basic needs.

(But if you are looking for a 'hotel' experience, this is not really it. The rooms are more like studio apartments with a front desk that closes at 22:00. (For me it was great). The location is great to get around Kyoto - and yet outside of the main tourist area, so quiet to sleep. Lots of restaurants in the area.KavehSolo traveller
