Mtskheta Day Tour

Full-day guided tour from Tbilisi to see the sites of Mtskheta, Gori and Uplistsikhe

This full-day tour from Tbilisi will take you to explore the so-called spiritual heart of Georgia – the ancient former capital of Mtskheta.

It was here that Christianity was proclaimed the country's official religion in BCE 337, and the city still serves as the headquarters of the Georgian Orthodox and Apostolic Church. You'll be able to learn more about the area with a visit to the magnificent Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to the 11th century.

Other sites you'll get to discover will include Uplistsikhe – a rock-hewn hilltop town dating back to the Iron Age – the orthodox Jvari Monastery, and the Gori Fortress, a medieval defence citadel built during the Middle Ages offering bird's eye views.
