Curd-processing Workshop from Tissamaharama

A fascinating lesson in the art of traditional buffalo curd making in a charming village

Free cancellation available

This workshop will teach you the age-old Sri Lankan skill of making curd from buffalo milk. You’ll begin with a tour of the farm's various sections before starting the milking process. You’ll watch the female buffalos being milked by hand, and depending on the buffalo’s mood, you might have the chance to try it yourself.

Your guide will walk you through the next stages of production, and you’ll watch the milk being strained, boiled and stirred, a souring agent being added and the final step – poured into a clay pot to set for six hours. During your tour, you’ll learn about the lives of the village’s curd makers, and you’ll taste a bowl of fresh curd served with kithul treacle.
