On this tour of Anuradhapura from Jaffna, you'll have a chance to visit some of the city's most sacred sites.
Your driver-guide will take you to Ruwanweliseya, the third largest stupa in Sri Lanka, whose shape replicates a bubble of water. You'll visit the Isurumuniya Temple, built partly in a cave and next to the Royal Pleasure Gardens, where you can gaze over a pond adorned with exquisite rock carvings of elephant herds. This tour will also take you to the focal point of Anuradhapura: the Sri Maha Bodhi tree. Planted in 288 BCE, this is the oldest tree with a known planting date, and a sapling from the tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment.
