Kayaking and Penguin Tour

The scenery and wildlife of Pohatu Marine Reserve with an evening penguin-watching session

Duration: 10 hours

On this nature adventure, you’ll travel to Pohatu Marine Reserve to get up close to its wildlife, including the resident penguins. During the drive, you’ll make several photo stops to capture the beautiful views. Once you’ve arrived in the bay, you’ll head out on a sea kayaking adventure where you’ll look out for fur seals, dolphins, penguins and an abundance of sea birds.

After your paddling trip, you’ll have free time to use the facilities, make dinner or explore the walking trails in the ancient forest. At dusk, your guide will lead you on a hike into the hills to watch the penguins playing in the water. You may even see them waddling ashore as the dark descends.
