This two-hour tour will acquaint you with Frederick alongside a resident and history buff. You'll cover about two kilometres, 60 points of interest and 12 stops, with optional lengths and themes available. You'll visit aged churches, locations connected to the Revolutionary War and Civil War, 'one vast hospital' buildings, old schools and more.
You'll stop at a 180-year-old former school to learn about the city's 1745 founding, two former orphanages and the city's oldest congregation. You'll learn about its ‘Fredericktowne’ German roots, how it and its industries evolved, the area’s devastating floods and its present day.
You'll see Courthouse Square and hear some of its most infamous stories, learn about the Civil War legend of Barbara Fritchie and walk along Carroll Creek. Your final stop will be at Square Corner.
