The design and layout of the property is gorgeous. Every detail is thoughtfully placed. The view from room 8 is OUTSTANDING! We were served breakfast by the pool and enjoyed the honor system with all food and drinks when the main house is closed. The view and tranquility from the pool is a once in a lifetime view and experience. The ladies and gentlemen that attend to the guests were SO sweet. It felt like staying at someone’s fancy home!

Bindu and her husband are AMAZING hosts and made me feel right at home. When they learned of my interests, they were sure to give me their personal recommendations of places to visit and go while in Rio! The location is walking distance to everything but quiet enough to get a great night's sleep. As a solo woman traveling, I felt extremely safe walking at night, and there was a guard posted on one of the nearby streets as well. My bed was comfortable, room was spacious, and breakfast was tasty with the natural.juice being different each day :-). I would HIGHLY recommend staying here (Sta Theresa) over the busier areas in Rio. As I stayed in Copacabana and Casa Beleza the only thing to note is that sometimes Ubers don't care to take you because it's a lot of driving uphill and some drivers don't know how to follow the GPS to the house (my last driver got lost is how I know). But this only happened to me once, and I wouldn't change staying here at all as Bindu also has a taxi service she offers guests!

Estrelas da Babilônia had everything we needed and more for our trip! Bibi is so kind and helpful, she sorted out any issue we had and went above and beyond to make sure we were okay. She also made us feel included in the local community, inviting us to salsa nights and even a birthday party! The location is amazing with a gorgeous view and the favella is super safe with lots of cheap food options. The beach is a short distance away and theres a supermarket and bakery at the bottom of the hill a short distance from the hostel. The breakfast was delicious with lots of fruit which was a great way to start every morning. The room itself was great and had everything they needed, we actually ended up staying in a couple of different rooms over our stay and they were all lovely. Each of them had a fan or air con which was great and they were all pretty quiet. The kitchen was also good, it was pretty basic but had everything we needed to make ourselves dinner. Overall we had an absolutely magical time during our two week stay here and for the price you wont be able to find anywhere better!

It does need a small table and chair, since it was asked not to bring a chair from the flat outside. Nothing to complain about. Hosts were just lovely and uncomplicated, living just down the private block, always available if needed. Thank you, Dona Maria and crew!!

Private room is big and a nice balcony. Shared rooms are comfortable as well. I normally was staying 2 nights in Rio but I cancelled next location because I had very good fun. Location also perfect, middle of Ipanema, with best supermarket closeby, safe street.

I can't forget our breakfasts: fresh fruit and juices, home-made cakes and a beautiful atmosphere. The patio has a special and relaxing vibe. Very clean, spacious room.
