nestled in the magic rainforest above Mindo, Casa de Vista Alta is the perfect place for enjoying nature, being stunned by the local birdlife and experiencing the first-rate hospitality of owner, Fernando and his team. our cabin was very comfortable and beautifully built into the environment. The food was delicious and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. The highlight was definitely our early morning walk with Fernando and his very powerful birder’s telescope. A lifetime of spotting birds enabled our guide to introduce us to many different beautiful species. We also appreciated his wealth of knowledge about the local environment.

Beautiful secluded nature, but close to town (peaceful 40 minute walk). The host is very friendly and provides coffee in the morning. From the common area you can see many birds-- save yourself some money on bird tours and just relax in a hammock. Comfy beds, hot shower, can't hear a single sound of civilization. Will stay again!

The owner was very helpful person, even though there was a language barrier, he came to help us to tow our car when we got into trouble stucked in the mud when turning the wrong road. Sadly due to short of time we couldn't attend any tours that he organizes by himself but I highly recommend to do it. Room and bathroom were super clean.

Henrry is a very welcoming, friendly and funny person. Location of the hostel is in prime location, also step away from Bus terminal. Henrry managed for our tubing trip , it was an awesome. This hostel is best for solo and families.

The fact that the original owners built it in a forest, while clearing only the minimal number of trees, helped maintain this illusion. Get some snacks in town as this is really Glamping, not a hotel with all the expected niceties. You’re a bit out of town center but cabs are easy and cheap and it’s fantastically quiet and peaceful.
