John, the owner, and the rest of his staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs during our stay. We landed at The Golf Tavern after a long journey from the states, and it was the perfect place to get settled before our 3 week trip around Scotland. Close to Edinburgh without paying Edinburgh prices. Experience the local culture in the pub at night with a pool table and darts. John even let us use his PC for a few minutes to accomplish a work task. We asked him if it was hard to run an inn, and he said no, "you just look after people" in his charming Scottish accent. 11/10 would recommend :)

Secluded location, quiet but with beautiful scenery. Jazelle was a great host who couldnt do enough for us. Not too far from Edinburgh but quiet enough to be out of the hustle and noise of a city centre.

We had an early morning appointment to attend during breakfast hours and the staff very kindly offered us late breakfast after our appointment which was very helpful and considerate. The breakfast was wonderful - fresh local produce very good quality. The service overall was excellent cant fault it. Very comfortable room and quiet but great location. Wonderful gem of a hotel in great location to explore East Lothian. Staff extremely obliging and friendly. Very good value. Big room, comfy bed, good food and great service. So good to stay in a charming character filled hotel rather than a soulless box like so many chain hotels. Highly recommended. A credit to the owner in what have been difficult times for the hospitality business.

The staff were all so friendly and great, they couldn't do enough to help us at every point. Plenty of free parking spaces. Generally a great location as a base to have a few days exploring the East Coast - certainly alot cheaper then in North Berwick and only 10 mins in the car

We absolutely loved the cottage! Quiet and beautiful location (incredible stars at night and pheasants wandering around). Very comfortable and very well equipped with lovely thoughtful touches. Felt like a home from home. Beds were excellent. Short drive to the very charming village of Gifford and not much further to Haddington which is also really nice and has everything you need. Great base for exploring East Lothian/The Borders/Edinburgh.

Comfortable beds. Good wet shower room. Well equipped kitchen- though we ate out etc. Lots of places nearby to find carry out food or eat inside. Loved the private internal courtyard for car and sitting out in sunshine. Good location for touring the area e.g. North Berwick and Dunbar. Wee treats left by owner- luxury chocolates 😋 Enjoyed our stay very much
