Very gracious host. Newly remodeled hotel with existing Roman walls included in the visible architectual design. The details are evident...the host even served her own homemade jam as part of the generous and delicious breakfast. Breakfast is in a glassed in rooftop area overlooking ancient walls and a cathedral. The hotel entrance is almost easy to miss but the hotel is well located, quiet, and constructed with neat architectural thoughtfulness. There are stairs to access the second and third floors but the staircase is open and lovely...and help was offered for bags. My colleague even had an issue with her luggage (from the airline) and the proprietor walked her over to a shop on a small side street to get it fixed. Overall, the hotel exceeded my expectations for the price.

The staff were all very friendly, helpful and welcoming. They cleaned the fireplace every day and laid/lit the fire in the evening. There was extra heating in the other rooms. The bedding was high quality and super clean. The breakfast was included and was delicious and very generous, using all local produce. We did the Museum and wine tasting tour at the property which was great value and very informative. The property is very close to the town of Lamego and well connected by road to the rest of the Douro Valley. We would highly recommend this property , either the two bedroom chalet we stayed in or the four bedroom main house ( which we viewed whilst there) and found it very good value for money.

we liked everything about Quinta do Fojo: the hosts were absolutely amazing, they treated us like family and at the same time gave us space. we went to a local restaurant with them, they provided us with great recommendations on the places we should see in the area. The 200 year old house is very authentic and also very comfortable, had absolutely every you may need. the views from the windows and terrace were breathtaking.

The place is beautiful and comfortable. We loved having an entire apartment, and especially the beautiful terrace. The proprietors are very nice and helpful, and gave us good tips on things to do. The grounds are awesome, even though it was tough for us to walk into town.

The location is great, surrounded by vineyards and farms, yet close to the village of Lamego (20 minutes walking or 5 minutes by car). Very peaceful and picturesque, with a very friendly staff. The room is big and quiet. Breakfast is basic but good.
