The location of the cottages / rooms are amazing - right on the beach. The breakfast basket to your room was great and varied each day. My children loved the bikes and the hot tubs! and the rooms were a good size and very clean and well kept

The Inn was very historic and beautifully well kept. The breakfast was fresh and served in a lovely bright sunroom. Fresh cookies available all day as well as port wine in the evening. Soft music in the parlor was very nice. Several common rooms were available for gathering. Very charming.

When I realized the stairs were very steep, she was able to move us to a room on the first floor. Breakfast was described as "continental" but it was waaay more than that. The room was super comfortable especially the bed. I can't say enough great things about this place and the town of Newburyport is so quaint and walkable. Definitely stay here if you get the chance.

Every town south of Newburyport was either sold out or offensively priced. We were searching for a 4 night accommodation. The Essex came up on a 2 night stay that still fit our needs and priced half of what others were asking. Best of all, clean, quiet, best nights sleep ever !🤗
