Set in the small, quiet village of Craigellachie, the Highlander Inn offers a restaurant, free WiFi access and free parking. Just 4.5 miles from Balvenie Castle, the former cathedral city of Elgin is 19 minutes' drive away.

The bar-restaurant is excellent - food quality exceeded expectation (and these days look for the crunchy battered langoustine dish, as well as the curry), and the whisky collection sets the benchmark for "whisky bars". The rooms are a pleasant surprise as well - no-nonsense type but spacious, clean and comfortable, with necessary items like electric kettle provided (not every small inn of its type offer this). Pleasant stay and definitely a great choice for a Speyside whisky trip (for more conveniences of a sizeable town one may prefer Aberlour town centre instead, which is a 5-min drive away, nevertheless).

The staff were very welcoming and very accommodating. Due to adverse weather conditions, we had to book at the last minute . We were stressed from driving hours trying to get home. Everything was perfect on arrival, nice and cosy 😊 the people in the little pub on the side of the accommodation were lovely and we had little chats about the history of the property which was really nice .

The location was ideal for visiting places along the coast and for the whisky trail. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Breakfasts were really good, as were the meals bought in the bar in the evening.

The location is convenient, the young (inexperienced) staff was doing their best to mitigate the disaster that this hotel is.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff Liam Cathryn Dave and a nice lady making breakfast. They go out of the way to make your stay comfortable. A big big thanks!! Hotel is at perfect location for Whisky Trail, it’s clean, lots of off street parking, hot breakfast, multiple options for evening meal in the village…so overall, extremely good value for money. I will highly recommend the hotel for anyone wanting to cover Speyside distilleries.

Lovely property in a good location for touring around the local area. Very clean and tidy. Guest is lovely and very generous with plenty of welcome items such as bread, milk, coffee, biscuits... and not forgetting a wee dram too! Easy to park at front door. Would definitely come back and recommend to others too.

The apartment was clean, comfy & large enough for a family. The hosts left us some biscuits which was a nice touch. The large garden with outside seating was lovely but we never got chance to use as we were out all day. Would definately stay here again if visiting the area. Great location for exploring the area from Aberdeen to Inverness.

A lovely hotel in a prime central location in Rothes. The staff are very friendly and welcoming . The room was nice and clean but a little too warm which did affect the nights sleep. Could possibly do with an iron in the room too . The bar restaurant was very nice and the food was excellent. The is also a good selection of whiskeys to choose from . Overall a nice stay if a little overpriced.
