You can see the town while driving by. It may appear quite old and shabby, with some relics from the last century, such as the worn railway station. However, on the outskirts, we found a secluded gem, the Forest 1961 Boutique Hotel & Restaurant, where we enjoyed a nice and quiet stay. There are also a few preserved tuf residential buildings that look quite good amidst the town's aged appearance.

Once a center of chemical industry in the USSR era, now the Vanadzor's large factories splay in all their monumental and dilapidated glory. Meaning, none of those work anymore, which on a brighter side, makes the city one of the best air quality cities in Armenia. On a sadder note, this means unemployment and a poorer city with not much investments (if any at all) pouring into the city.
But the city has so much potential.
The city is the perfect place if you're looking for relaxation, quiet and calm atmosphere, friendly locals, good and cheap food, historic churches, parks and hikes. Pretty much no nightlife, except the city's Central square having fountains light up after 9 pm and the city's only pub close by, KangAr.
The best place imho are the city's parks and the Lakes area, where one can get on boats or play games and arcades on the shore, under old willow trees.

Nothing of interest to see, certainly not a tourist destination.Very small with little to no Basic services.people who are supposed to work in tourism don't have minimum knowledge of English and neither they know how to use translation applications.
I don't recommend it even for a one night stop as there wasn't even a good supermarket in the centre or a decent restaurant.

Amazing city with a fantastic picturesque nature and surrounding places of sightseeing. A very nice, quite and green park is near Gegharhunik Diocese. Jazz cafe is the best place to eat out. A beautiful old church is worth to see as well as the big and new one.
