CABN Clare Valley, hotel in Auburn

CABN Clare Valley provides air-conditioned rooms in Mintaro. The hotel features family rooms. Guest rooms in the hotel are fitted with a kettle.

Love the tranquility! Surrounded by beautiful vineyards (and two wild Joeys 🦘), we absolutely enjoyed the glamping experience. The stary clear sky was also amazing. The location is off-grid yet actually pretty convenient. It's almost next to my favorite winery! The CABN was clean and well-equipped. I was grateful the host did read the previous reviews, and kindly turned the air-conditioning on before we arrived. The cool breeze when we got into the CABN literally made my day.😂

Auburn is a quiet village at the southern end of the Clare valley which makes it a great base for winery adventures and walking around - it is on the Riesling trail. There is a pub and a restaurant as well as a supermarket. The Rising Sun hotel does good dinners (just don’t expect your rare steak to come rare).

We had an overnight stay in Auburn for a quick business trip, so we weren't there to look around at all. However, it is obviously a beautiful area! We had dinner at Sevenhill Hotel - fantastic venue. Our accommodation at Lyreen's was excellent and we will be remembering this B&B for future visits.

Auburn is ideally close to Clare, is at the start of the Reisling Trail, has a great little supermarket and a really nice vibe. Add to that we stayed at the amazing 'Cullen House', a perfect little piece of paradise. All made for an amazing, romantic weekend away.

The house was wonderful with the wood fire in the lounge and gorgeous views from the deck. The house was very well equipped, from making toasted sandwiches for lunch, playing pictionary or choosing a movie on Netflix, the owner had set up the house to make us feel very much at home. Most days we rode our bikes along the Riesling trail, explored out the back gate along the Wakefield River with our dogs, or visited cellar doors in the main street of Auburn. One day we drove into Clare and Mintaro for some more great adventures with our 4yr old.

We visited during the Clare Valley Gourmet Festival opening weekend, and so it was pretty busy. We only managed to book for the Sunday evening. We hired mountain bikes from them, and booked over the phone - despite a few missed calls initially, it was a pretty easy process. We also booked for dinner, which was delicious and served up quickly. The choice of drinks was also above average for a small town pub/hotel. The other patrons and locals were friendly and had a great sense of humour. I genuinely enjoyed the stay here.

We arrived late at night and left early the next morning, we were just looking for a clean and comfortable place for a quick stop over. We pre-ordered our meals when we were about an hour away which was a great option due to the time we arrived. Meals were yummy. Room was clean and comfortable. Good price and continental breakfast was left in the room for us to prepare ourselves. Accommodation is in separate wing of the hotel so was very quiet.

Auburn Hideaway is delightful! The beds are very comfortable, the wood fire warms the house very quickly and adds to the ambience, the location is very quiet and picturesque and the bird life is wonderful. The complimentary port, cheese and crackers, shortbread biscuits and chocolates were much appreciated. Milk and orange juice was also supplied.

Everything. We were lucky enough to have the whole package - overnight stay and the 4 course dinner at the restaurant with wine pairing. This entire experience is well worth the money. Dan is a legend & has made the Clare Valley and Auburn memorable for us.
