I was pleasantly surprised as I didn't know what to expect. I was a little upset as I should have booked directly with your hotel, but instead went through Booking.com, which was a few hundred dollars more expensive.
Perfectly positioned to make the most of the Australian outback, Sails in the Desert is just a 5-minute walk from the Uluru (Ayers Rock) lookout and is a great spot to take in the desert sunrise or...
Emu Walk Apartments are just a short walk from Ayers Rock Resort centre. Each apartment is air-conditioned and has a TV with free-to-air channels, plus a balcony or veranda.

Excellent apartment. Large, very clean, well decorated, everything you need.
Truly spiritual and overwhelming experience. It's a pity most Aussies have not visited this place. Best to drive yourself so you can take your time and make your own schedule. Every viewing point is set up well and signposted for easy access.
You can easily spend 2 days driving around the rock, witnessing sunrise and sunset with their own unique vistas.
Evening dinner with lights event although overpriced was a beautiful experience due to the stars and the astronomer who showed the constellations. Much betwer than the bunch of solar usb powered bulbs on a springy stalk.
Tip- a fly net on your face is dorky but a must!

Loved the aat kings tours and astro tour and hop on hop off bus trips. Loved the spiritual energy of the rock uluru. Loved walking around the rock and photographing it. Loved being outdoors near the rock and olgas the best. Loved the lunches at geckos cafe and souvenir shops too. The magnificent uluru rock and spiritual feeling and being outdoors in close proximity to uluru, the beautiful desert and warm to hot sunny days, no clouds in the sky was the best. Aat kings sunset tours and aat kings mala walk and drive around uluru and astro skies tour were the best, highlights of my holiday.

Most of the essentials are within the vicinity, staff and residents are friendly, however most of the activities that need tickets are expensive. The staff made changes with no fuss just to accommodate our requests (bookings)

We filled out 2.5 days with tours at dawn and in the nights and went to classes in the town square in between. We walked around all the resorts and ate meals at different places to experience many of them. It's very easy to walk around the resorts or catch the free circuit bus. We thought we would have gone on longer walks around Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa if we had a couple more days to stay.

We loved touring around Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
We loved touring around Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
Loved the Field of Lights Tour.
Loved the Helicopter flight over Uluru. The indigenous cultural talks and tours were midday when we were out and about. If they could have those later in the evenings it would have been better.
Dont do the Emu Plains BBQ sunset tour - at $139 per head it was rushed and not worth it at all.
Overall it was beautiful to finally see Uluru and Kata Tjuta
In the evenings there wasn't much to do after sunset and after 3 nights got very boring.

The base walk around the Uluru rock is too long!
The base walk around the Uluru rock is too long! even the weather on that day is good. I'd like the walk to the gorge. I also like the water hole and the surrounding view. I walked to the 2nd look out at Kata Tjuna and I like this walk
We had a very spacious room and bathroom with plenty of room for two people (could sleep up to 4 as there were two beds). Staff at the hotel and resort as a whole were very helpful and friendly. We ate at the breakfast buffet which was good. Very easy to get around the resort with buses collecting from the main entrance and plenty of signs. The pool area was relaxing with plenty of shelter from the sun. It was a short walk to the town square which had an IGA, post office, gift shops (essential to buy your fly net) and a restaurant.
Clean, comfy bed, plenty of space in the apartment, decent enough equipped kitchen, noting the fridge was a large bar fridge. Had coffee/tea/sugar/salt/pepper and small milk but that's it. The supermarket is a 5 minute walk away. While this hotel doesn't have a pool, both accommodations either side does, which is only a short walk away. Location great, staff friendly. Would have liked an ice tray to make ice, got some from another hotel bar which was helpful. Oh, and heaps of towels! Really appreciated that.
Room was simple, but spotless. Swimming pool was a wonderful spot to cool off after long hikes in 30+ temperatures. Location was terrific… right beside the “town square” with access to cafes, a grocery store, souvenir stores and a place to book tours. We had stayed here on our first trip to Australia 12 years ago, and could not make a booking six years ago because of renovations. We were happy to return and not stay in one of the more expensive venues.
Big comfortable room with an efficient air conditioner which was needed. Spacious fridge, nice sofa seats. Lots of space to put things. Great swimming pool which was never crowded and shaded sun loungers. Also liked that local.kids were allowed a short swim in the pool. . Middle of the resort so handy for eating places, booking trips and pick up for coach into the national park was 3 minutes walk. Pick up for airport right outside hotel reception.
We enjoyed our stay at Sails at the Desert. The rooms were big, the resort handled most logistics which made travel easier, parking was readily available each time and the staff were nice. We didn't use the free airport shuttle provided by the hotel/resort because we rented a car, but that is a very nice benefit for guests. We also appreciated the free ice water in the lobby to refill our water bottles.
We were greeted at reception by a fantastic young trainee (Emy) and things got even better after that. The hotel, and the resort, is very well run by enthusiastic and friendly staff. The excellent service combined with the location so close to Uluru and Kata Tjuta made this a memorable visit.
Nice, spacious room. Convenient on- site restaurant/ bar. Lovely pool for swimming/ relaxing. Path to an observation site for watching the sunrise/ sunset. Shuttle stop in front of hotel for going to village/ other hotels.
The only good things about this hotel is the staff members and the restaurant. The food is delicious, especially the Pepper squid and the lamb. The rooms are horrible. I won't stay there again.
It was great that we could utilise the facilities of the surrounding hotels like the pools and bar.
Also when we dined in the restaurants we could charge back to our apartment.
Recently renovated, the rooms in the hotel part are new and very comfortable and clean. The Outback bar has good food and live music. Efficient and appreciated airport transfers.
The Red Center is an amazing location. This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms were large and well supplied. It was unexpectedly hot, so we spent many afternoons in their pool.
I loved the additional day activities held in the resort. The room was fantastic and the restaurant was very good. The staff was super friendly, helpful and professional.
The apartment was roomy, and all furnishings were comfortable. The amenities available from the resort were good, with many free "experiences" to enjoy.
