Mantra South Bank Brisbane 4 stars

Hotel in South Brisbane, Brisbane

Mantra South Bank is located on the southern bank of the Brisbane River, opposite Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. The location was excellent. Across the street was South Bank Parklands. The Saturday and Sunday markets were close by. Queensland Performing Arts (QPAC) was a short stroll away. There were at least 30 restaurants and eateries within a leisurely walking distance, catering to all budgets. Our car was valet parked and wasn't needed until we were checking out. We paid a bit extra for a city view which was worth it since the non-city side faces the railway line and may be a little noisy. There were fireworks one night which added to the view. The room was a comfortable studio with a king size bed. This was very comfortable. The pool was lightly heated and there was a hot spa as well. There was a very well equipped gym although we didn't use it. We were very happy with the staff. We paid for the breakfast as part of the booking and this was well worth it. Cereal, juice, hot meal and tea/coffee and all in excellent quality and serving size.

FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-Drenched and Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laidback Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s arty South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just opposite is the towering skyline of Brisbane's CBD, where many hotels in Brisbane city centre are located.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. More shopping centres are found all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south you can hug one of the loveable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks – Wickham Park – contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the north-east, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

As well as central accommodation, Booking.com also offers hotels near Brisbane Airport in a north-eastern coastal suburb.
