Cairns Colonial Club Resort 4 stars

Hotel in Cairns

Cairns Colonial Club Resort has affordable accommodation, 10 minutes’ drive from the city centre and Cairns Airport. It features 3 lagoon-style pools, and a man-made beach. We slept one night only and did not see much of this resort, only the lobby and entrance area while checking in and out - which was beautiful. I am sorry we missed out on this special resort. Our stay was to short!!

Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns 4 stars

Hotel in Cairns

Overlooking the Coral Sea, Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns offers rooms with a private balcony and city, mountain or ocean views. The location was excellent, we could walk to the lagoon boardwalk easily and get to restaurants in about 10 minutes. We also booked a day at Kuranda Rainforest through a tour company downtown at the recommendation of the hotel concierge, who advised that it is easy to find a good deal by trying a couple tour companies and comparing prices. The room was luxurious, spacious, and clean. We tried the breakfast one morning, which was a bit expensive by my taste, but it was varied and not bad. You can buy a drink at the bar or even at a vending machine to take back to your room, which was fun. The hotel concierges were all very friendly and helpful.
