Cleveland Motor Inn, hotel in Coochiemudlo

Set in Cleveland in the Queensland Region, 24 km from Brisbane, Cleveland Motor Inn features a year-round outdoor pool and barbecue.

This is a pleasant and comfortable mid range motel in a suburban area just outside Cleveland. It’s well built, modern and well equipped for a short stay. The bed was comfortable. Parking is easy and there is a nice pool for summer cool off. It’s close to a rail line which may be relevant but we enjoyed the occasional clatter of a passing train. There’s a nice breakfast restaurant (Cafe on Gordon) on Bainbridge Street nearby.

    Coochiemudlo is unspoilt and peaceful.

Coochiemudlo is unspoilt and peaceful. There are wilderness areas and it's great for walking. There's only one cafe but the food there is great and there's plenty of variety. It's not open for dinner but with big breakfasts and lunches we were happy. The island has significant first nation heritage as well as early European history, and these are well explained with story boards etc. We stayed for three days but could happily have stayed for a week.

    DO NOT BOOK THERE.

DO NOT BOOK THERE. I am sick of dealing with the business running like that. Cheating!! CHEATING! I booked two units there, ask connect each other because we couple with our two children. Got there found one of the unit was so so smelly, we didn't use it. Asked them and said they can not get a plumber there, would replace another one but not closed. They knew the problem, the smell should be any reason, means they knew already. Due to the safety reasons, we said how about we stay one room together, just one night, they agreed to refund to us. When we came back and try to get refund, they took all kinds of excuse and didn't agree the refund. Again and again. We felt like a begger. Terrible experience. Running business should do basic hygiene, and do what promised. Not just want get income and do nothing and cheating again and again. BTW, the night, TV didn't work, and I felt sorry to bother two ladies there two times to help us, they are staff? Not sure, maybe contractor. That was Christmas Eve, so they agreed to refund, we are alright. I assume their family were waiting for them to have dinner So I let her go.

Enjoyed a visit to the golf club, very friendly people. Found the eating out a bit strange, although breakfast at the local shop was great. Loved the walk right around the island, and beautiful swimming beaches.

It was easy access from the mainland (10 mins buy ferry), quiet and relaxed. It's a nice getaway for a couple of days. If you are planning on staying longer you'd probably want to have a grocery store or something, for basic essentials. So you may want to bring some with you.

Great spot if you want peace and quiet and the simple things. Limited facilities on the island do mean you need to take everything with you but there are two cafes to get caffeine hits of that’s your thing. We walked , biked , swap , SUP’d , read books, played board games had daytime naps and for us - this was perfect for our 5 night stay with family and friends. The massive number of trees of the island were a highlight.

Coochie is a great spot for a couple of days of R&R; can get active if you like with bike ride around island; plenty of water sports or just chill and relax by the water. So close to Brisbane and inexpensive to get to is a hidden gem.
