Location and ambience. The staff, both Cloe and Jasmine were superb, welcoming, helpful and informative. The best staff by far that we encountered on our travels in NT.

The gardens are beautiful and some outdoor seating in the shade beside the lawns would add to the enjoyment .The dogs were no problem. The Pool and sitting area were comfortable and pleasant. However at night the outdoor area had many bugs which the other guests found irritating as they had nowhere else to sit and get internet reception.
The hosts were friendly and welcoming.

The deck at sunset was such a beautiful experience, on our own with huge views. Tent was very comfortable, I would totally recommend this experience, and only 10 mins drive onto the gorge.

The pool was the highlight for us and the kids. We came at a quiet time so the tavern wasn’t open but that’s ok. Staff were great, room was a great size and the grounds were well maintained

We did a cruise of Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge which involved two gorges with a short walk in between. This was very enjoyable, comfortable with an interesting and informative narration. Scenery is spectacular and not to be missed.

Katherine was a vibrant town but we were only passing through on our way to Darwin .The Glamping tent accomodation which was pet friendly at the Gorge View Bush Retreat and Sunset view of the Gorge appealed to us as a stopover.

We chose the wrong time to visit Katherine during monsoon season. Most tourist sites are closed and very limited to what you can do. It’s a waste of time for us. In addition the accommodation we booked didn’t meet our expectations, so we decided to drive back to Darwin.

Not much appeal for Katherine Town itself however there is plenty of Indigenous arts and cultural experiences around to witness. Main purpose of the stay was for Nitmiluk which was sensational with a wealth of knowledge from the guides on the Indigenous culture and way of life.

We only spent a day at Katherine, as we were on the way to Kakadu. We visit the Katherine hot springs which was lovely for a morning dip as there weren't many people there yet. Would recommend canoeing in Katherine Gorge, stunning views and you might see some crocodiles. Edith falls is also another good place to visit for a hike and swim.

Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge is amazing.
Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge is amazing. Try to book the sunset cruise, you won't be disappointed. Absolutely beautiful and the guides are great, providing knowledge of the gorge from the Jawoyn traditional owners perspective.
Another highly recommended place to visit is Top Didj - and book the cultural show with Manual. A very fun, interactive and informative session, where he will show you how to make fire, throw a spear and paint traditionally. This is a must do when you're in town.
The best waterhole in and around Katherine is the Hot Water Springs - not overly crowded like Mataranka, and the upper and lower pools are absolutely beautiful. Take a noodle and float on downstream. Best way to cool off in Katherine - the water is not hot, nor is it cold - is the perfect temperature.
If you have time, spend a day at Mataranka and visit Bitter Springs and the Thermal Pools. Both were nice, although very popular and busy.
My mum and myself stayed in a queen/single room on two occasions. Rooms are a reasonable size. The location is relatively quiet - a few blocks back from the main street of Katherine. The property boasts a nicely laid out garden/pool area. Breakfast was provided in the room rate. Breakfast was very good with plenty of variety. Management was accommodating (although I would recommend calling, rather than relying on Booking.com messaging, if you want to make contact).
Great central location in Katherine and good base for day trips. Room was very clean and comfortable. The pool was lovely for a late afternoon swim when we got back from exploring. Blanket in the cupboard was appreciated on a cool evening. Was great to have Netflix for a night in. Very quiet except for some afternoon music from the hotel next door. Helpful Manager.
Best thing is the food in the restaurant - it is really properly good restaurant food. Good location, quiet, all staff lovely, washing machine and dryer in family room was very useful. While we were staying in a family room we did notice there were really good camping facilities in the hotel grounds for those looking for secure camping.
The staff were so friendly, smiley, helpful and professional.
The room was very clean, modern, comfortable, king bed.
The food at the restaurant was delicious and the breakfast was also a great complimentary addition. Complimentary canapes and drinks on arrival.
Refreshing cool pool.
A great weekend NT staycay at the gorge.
During our NT tour, we stayed at three motels and one airbnb house, in Kakadu National Park, Katherine, Darwin and Durack, and this motel is the best, even when compared with the hotel that was double the price, it is very reasonably priced with an excellent buffet breakfast included. Keep up the good work!
The staff were helpful and friendly. The cabin was spotless, modern and had everything we needed. Definitely the best accommodation in Katherine compared to other places we've stayed. Nice that it's out of town but close enough for restaurants and grocery shopping.
This is my second time being at Katherine Motel and we always enjoy our stay here. Thank you Sue and Prem for amazing hospitality and guest service. Will definitely come back again.
Very welcoming. Quiet and safe. I almost don’t want to share this positive review because this is a gem of a place. I am not staying anywhere else in Katherine if I have a choice.
rooms have recently been upgraded - so everything is very fresh and clean - parking out the front of room is fabulous - and property is pet friendly - although at higher end
very comfortable rooms, easy access with parking at the door in most cases. the pool is a treat on a hot day. the restaurant would be the best in town.
