Kilcunda is a rugged area The beach is very scenic ,great for walking but definitrly not a safe swimming beach .Surfers do frequent the beach east of the motel . When the weather conditions are right rhe waves are huge and the views are awesome with the roar of the ocean as a backdrop.

Lovely spot to walk -especially if you have time to do George Bass Coastal Walk (2 1/2 hours). The friendly manager can offer to drive you to the San Reno end so you can walk back the one way. Negative is that stunning Kilcunda surf beach is Dan dangerous with strong undertow, and not patrolled, so don’t expect to swim there - all locals advise against it!

Kilcunda is a beautiful place, the seaviews, the clifftop walks, the native birds and animals make it a very restful place to be. The pub is good, the cafe excellent and Udder and Hoes stocks gourmet local produce. I will go again

Kilkunda is still unspoiled, it has great beaches rock pools, walks, the weather can be calm or totally windswept and rugged, it is a hidden gem. The Bass Coast walk is stunning over the old railway bridge and beyond in both directions, the meal at the pub was great and the general store has yum coffee and snacks.
