As we were stuck in Newcastle and in the hospital for the majority of the three weeks we were there, I couldn't get out quick enough....but in the time that I did have spare to look around, if you get away from the industrial areas, there are many areas around the beach in Newcastle that are beautiful. If you get out towards the Hunter Valley, Warner's Bay or Nelson Bay even better.

Newcastle is a busy port on one side and a beach holiday paradise on the other. There are several points of interest, such as the fort and the lighthouse. Good walking for the fit.
From the transport interchange, there is a useful, very regular, tram (bright red) out to points along the way to these sights. Tap on tap off with your credit card, if you don’t have the local Oyster Card. We found Rydges cafe and Queens Wharf good places to take refreshment whilst watching the ships passing to pick up coal. Newcastle is the largest coal exporting port in the world and watching them move with tugs in attendance is quite relaxing while you enjoy a drink.
The museum gives a good overview of Newcastle’s development, without being too exhaustive. Entrance is free. Give it a go, as it’s next to the Information Centre who are very helpful.
From Queens Wharf there is a short ferry across to Stockton, a small town with a good view of the harbour and shipping from its local park. Take your water and sun hat but toilets are a bit thin on the ground.
I would have liked more time to explore and take photographs. Enough said!

Newcastle was great for a visit and not just because family live there. Great vibe, many cafes and shops, really nice to stroll around the town and get a feel for the place. The river waterfront was really pleasant after a hot day.

Newcastle offers some great activities. Great beaches, the recently renovated city baths, the Bogey Hole convict dug swimming pool on the cliff edge, Fort Scratchley, Nobbys
Head and lighthouse, Newcastle Memorial Walk, museums and galleries, fabulous cafes, National Parks and weekend markets. So much to do nearby.

I am biased because the 1st 4 years of my life was spent living there and yearly holidays there also. Love the harbour & watching the boats come & go while enjoying the scenery & restaurant food. As a former resident it is always easy for me to navigate the city & beaches.

I was there for a sports event which took up most of my time. I did get the opportunity to swim in the Bogey hole and Mereweather baths. Next time, I'll ensure I have more holiday time to appreciate the location more. I would love to check out more of nature and visit cafe and restaurants which there was plenty of options around.
It is near the university and surrounding suburbs which was excellent (came to Newcastle to look for accommodation for our son). Beds were very comfortable. Very good value for a fully contained unit.
There is a takeaway for breakfast about 850m away.
Maybe some cushions on the sofa will make it perfect.
Two toilets with showers upstairs and one toilet in the laundry
Couldn’t fault this hotel, friendly staff that communicate well, clean comfortable rooms, pool and swimming a area were great. Located next door to a 24/7 coles express that was great for morning coffee and snacks. Excellent Mexican restaurant a few blocks up. We walked to the beach and ocean pool was one of the best I have been to.
Thoroughly enjoyed having afternoon drinks watching the sunset over the harbour. Room was clean and comfy for a family of four and the location was excellent - right on the doorstep of Newcastle's best cafes and eating spots. The team at Terminus were exceptional and always on the front foot with communication. Highly recommend.
The property is so easy to get to from the highway, it is across the road from a large shopping centre with plenty of food options, pharmacy, fresh fruit shop as well as your normal supermarkets. It’s an easy 15 minute drive to Newcastle CBD. The unit was clean and very comfortable with everything needed for a short stay.
We have never stayed at a QT Hotel before, so didn't know what to expect. The hotel is only a few months old, so it is all brand new, but what stood out was the quality of the design and thought that had gone into all the beautiful bespoke finishes in the room, making it unique and had a very luxurious feel.
Best hotel and hotel experience I’ve ever had. Staff are super approachable. Hotel is new and not tired and out of date like other Newcastle properties. Didn’t feel like anything was trying too hard to be fancy or modern, it was all done with confidence and ease like they knew what they were doing!
Located opposite the station only two stops to get to Newcastle interchange and about a 10minute walk to supermarkets and restaurants. The cleaners were very friendly and was handy having a fridge/freezer, microwave and kettle in the hotel room. Is a cheap and perfect stop for a month or less.
Great location, approx 10-15mins from Newcastle beach. Plenty of amenities around hotel, eg cafes + iga.
Pool was amazing- perfect for my little children.
Great dining options, as hotel in connected to Wests Leagues club with fantastic variety of food outlets.
The place is good to stay for a quick stop over to Newcastle, the access to the parking is easy if you are booked on the ground floor towards the front of the hotel, there is not much foot traffic near the hotel
The unit was surprisingly roomy with good outdoor spaces. It was clean and comfortable with all your needs. We were able to walk to town (5-7mins) and enjoy some shopping and cafes.
Close to all central Newcastle. Grocer store just across the road. Modern and welcoming location. Cafes and food pubs in extreme proximity. A choice of Parks in close proximity
amazing, amazing hotel. my partner and I were so impressed with this hotel. it is expensive but I do believe it is worth the money. roof top bar is stunning, great place.
The unit I had was quiet, being at the rear. The facilities were very good, very clean and modern. the staff were friendly.
