we were disappointed and probably won't go again. We had been many times before years ago and it was much better then. It was very expensive for what it was. The breakfast was ordinary for a fancy hhotel. Dinner was good

Spoilt with the number and quality of exceptional Hunter Valley wineries. Wines were brilliant. Cellar doors very knowledgeable and willing to share their wine knowledge as needed. The compact nature of the Valley means travel is easy and without hassles. Restaurants and concert venues are 1st class. Being so close to Sydney... it's a must to visit and enjoy the world class wines!

Beautiful area with gorgeous scenery and incredibly welcoming people at every place we went. So many little wineries to visit, chocolate and cheese. A great place to relax and wind down. We weren’t that overwhelmed by the brunches we had at Liesure Inn and Eden at the Garden Centre, but the surroundings and lovely people helped overcome that. It turned out to be an AirBNB. Promised breakfast and had to cook myself. Not a good choice. Told by owner I could go out somewhere else to have breakfast!!!! Why when I have paid for it? Shower over spa tub in bathroom so not easy getting in and out. Tear in one of pillow slips. Furniture not very nice.

Pokolbin has quite a few things to do and a number of accommodation options at your disposal. It's just a matter of how much you can afford to spend and how much time you have to see everything. We drove around as this was easiest for a family, although you had the expensive horse and carriage or cheap electric bike hire as other options. The wineries are always a winner, but the Chocolate & Fudge Factory and Cheese Factory are good to visit as well. Take a look at Pepper Tree Vineyard. They offer free use of their gardens/vines for a picnic opportunity, but you do need to book this.ScottAustralia - 8.0Scored 8.0

Hunter Valley Gardens was the best. Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort was horrific. Only those visitors who booked with Oaks could use facilities others could not even though we paid the same amount. We were deprived of the use of major facilities at the resort as we booked through booking .com. It was a humiliating experience, awful for my daughter. Heartbreaking. The woman at Oaks reception was vile when explaining the disaster to me.NicoleAustralia

We were familiar with the area and choose this villa so we could walk to a few restaurants and the Hunter valley garden area. The villa itself was well appointed and plenty big enough for me and my wife and two teenage kids. It was also located away from the roads making it rather quiet. The hosts communication was excellent and the added treats of bread, milk, eggs and some other goodies on arrival was a homely and lovely touch. We’d certainly stay at this villa again.MattAustralia

Within 30 min walking there are several wineries, restaurants, etc. The kitchen was very good for self-catering and there was more than 2 pieces of plates, cups, etc. available. Our visit was in winter time, the Hunter Valley is North enough so that the afternoon sun (if available) is warm enough to lay in the poolside sunbeds. However, the temperature of the pool water was a little bit chilly. I tried it multiple times, but one try was enough for my wife.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating especially Sarah who served us during the high tea she was so delightful and when she realised it was my birthday she got a little something made for me which was so sweet and sentimental. So I really thank her. The breakfast was the best I have ever had at any hotel I have stayed at. A really beautifully place to stay! Can’t recommend enough.

Great internal laundry facilities. Kitchen was fully equipped for a self contained stay with full sized fridge, electric oven, gas cooktop, microwave and dishwasher. Lock up garage too with asking for an extra car.

The bed is king size, its so comfy, the location is perfect for the wineries and you are seperated from the main house so its private. Its romantic with the fire and so much better and spacious than a 5 star hotel.

In winter conditions the place is warm and friendly particularly the lounge area with log fires and the fire pits outside. The eRemo restaurant is superb too. Overall a 5 star experience on a short stay and we will be back.
