A good day visit would be enough to see the area.

A good day visit would be enough to see the area. The information centre was terrific and professional in promoting the area but the shire needs to lift there game to update signage ( especially the blackfellows cave). Penguins should of been protected better from vermin before they were wiped out. A cleaner pier that's not covered in bird poop would of been nice also

A hidden gem of town - picturesque, historic, interesting and extremely friendly and welcoming locals who are proud of their town. The Periwinkle Cafe and the Victoria Hotel serve delicious meals and drinks with extensive options for all ages and dietary requirements. There is quite a lot to see and do in this small town - wished we had stayed longer!

Hasn't changed in size and infrastructure since the 1980s extremely small place no growth in the town and very old and weathered town, we was glad that we stayed only two nights. We won't be coming back sorry.

Port McDonnell and surrounding towns/villages is a unique place. The coastline fronting onto the great Southern Ocean is spectacular. Even on a slightly breeze day it takes little imagination to understand the difficulty and danger for the sailing ships of the 16th,17th and 18th century struggling against the might of the ocean swells and winds as they plied the treacherous shipwreck coast. The country side is rich in agricultural resources of many kinds. The proximity to the city of Mt Gambier adds to the value of a visit to the region. It is an easy and interesting drive from Adelaide along the limestone coastal Road this drive offers many chances to se the spectacular Coorong

If the weather had been better we would have walked further along the beach. The hotel had a good menu range and we enjoyed our meals. We enjoyed the tour of Adam Lindsay Gordon's cottage at Dingley Dell just north of Port Macdonnell.
