Location was great in Main Street. Lovely old Art Deco Building. Room was spacious and had a separate entry as it was the accessible room, (also a room that allowed a small pet). The the ability to have a small pet was 10/10 and many properties don't or cant do this. Bathroom was huge, (due I think as it was accessible room), bathroom product very good and plentiful. Great towels etc. Room extremely clean 10/10. Instant coffee, Teas, (black, green and herb) a good offering and milk in the fridge.

Royal Motel was in a great location, the staff were literally incredible and the room was modern, clean and spacious.
We were running super late due to traffic (pulled in around 9pm) and the staff memeber stayed back to wait for us to show us into our room and provided us with advise on where to eat given we were getting in so late.

What's not to love about Tenterfield, especially when the Autumn colour puts on a show! There's plenty to do for lovers of history, also several national parks a short distance from town, other scenic drives (Tourist Drives 7 and 9 are highlights), and short road trips to nearby towns that have different character to investigate.
Sadly the Visitor Information Centre is permanently closed so it's best to do your research online or before you get to Tenterfield. Also there are not many places to eat open on certain days of the week (we found Sunday particularly difficult) and several museums and places of interest have reduced their days of opening. Probably Thursday to Sunday provides more options than Sunday to Wednesday.

Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people.
Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people. We had a very negative experience with one boutique shopkeepers' quarters accommodation. which had such potential but didn't see through and especially for the price however the town was gorgeous and everyone else was so friendly and accommodating. We have family living nearby and will come back to this gorgeous little town.
The "Stone Fruit" bar has exceptional coffee, the florist was lovely and arty, and the clothes choices were fantastic! Lots of little quaint coffee places dotted up the street. The Peter Allen motel was old (loved the kitsch orange floor tiles in the bathroom) very clean, central, friendly and just all-round welcoming.

I grew up just down the highway from Tenterfield and was very pleasantly surprised when I visited it again for the first time in 40 years, for a wedding.
The Northern Tablelands of NSW is a beautiful area and Tenterfield now has a great place to stay in the Commercial Boutique Hotel; really good cafes for breakfast or lunch (Badmanners Cafe, Courtyard Cafe); and several restaurants and pubs (Colonial Hotel) for an enjoyable evening meal.
Lots to see in the area or further up or down the New England Highway.

We did not get to the accommodation because of the fires at Tenterfield but that was no fault of the owner who was very helpful to me when I explained our situation. I hope to stay there at a later date when the bush fires settle down and would like to have the money I have paid in abeyance until we can arrange another day to attend

The Town is as dead as a Dodo, but when I was last here 30 years ago, it was then too. One can safely fire a cannon down the road at 7 p.m. and as for finding a meal, there were very limited choices. The next town up the road in Qld, Stanthorpe, is humming!

We only had one day so drove the Mackenzie Mountain tourist route#9 to see the granite rocks and they were amazing. Then drove to Boonoo Boonoo National Park where the walks are quite short to the falls (sadly very little water due to drought conditions but still worth going) The rock pools were beautiful despite low water.
We enjoyed our walk along the main street and visited the Tenterfield Traveller shop.
Lots of great dining options.
There's a skate park which looks brand new and lovely walks through the parklands along Tenterfield Creek
I loved everything about Stannum House ..its beautiful!!! It oozes old world charm, has really friendly staff, is super affordable and close to town ( walking distance to everything). Allowed to walk up to roof which was wonderful .....best view over whole of town :) Will stay here every time I come to Tenterfield for sure. Beautiful.
The house is very interesting and for families on a budget it would be best to book direct with the hotel. We were charged $245 for two rooms on this site. Booking direct with the property, the rooms are only $99 each. Easy walking distance into Tenterfield. Commercial hotel is very good for meals.
Many such parks are next to main roads with overnight traffic. Tenterfield Lodge Caravan Park was not so - it is in a very quiet part of town, but close to amenities such as restaurants and fuel. If you want a quiet, peaceful night, it’s the place to stay.
My partner and I love this grand historic home. We travel to tenterfield when ever we need to wind down and chill out. The host is such a lovely person nothing is to hard. Very knowledgeable on history of stannum house. And it has a many varied changes.❤️
Loved the decor. The room was beautiful. The bathroom outstanding. The sense of history everywhere makes for an authentic Tenterfield experience. Our evening meal was first class and the wait staff were friendly and efficient.
Large comfortable room, well set out, plenty of light with large window. Simple toast with jam and fruit juice supplied for breakfast. Walking distance to shops. They recommended pub (The Telegraph) for dinner - good meal.
The accomodation was very quaint and just what we wanted for a getaway. It was private and quiet, yet super close (short walk) to everything you would need. Great restaurants and cafes nearby. Lovely authentic bathtub!
Perfect location, warm and welcoming this was a wonderful start to our Tenterfield adventures. Loved the big bath and comfy beds. Easy to access and a stroll to the pub - what more could you want. We will book again.
A great little budget motel. Rooms are smallish but not cramped.. Very comfortable bed. Good water pressure and hot. Noticed rooms as they filled were allocated furthest from the road for a quiet night's rest.
Great stay, lovely clean and tidy room, nice people. We really enjoyed out stay. The breakfast was simple but all we needed in the morning. Nice spot and Tenterfield has some great cafes and dinner spots now
Nice and central to shops, cafes etc and only a few minutes to our friends who we were visiting in Tenterfield. Beds were also super comfortable. Having breakfast supplied was also excellent.
The hotel was beautifully designed and decorated.
The room was very clean and the bathroom accessories were amazing.
We ate at the restaurant and the food was 10/10.
