We were heading home from holidays and only needed one night before travelling home the next day.
We found the Kookaburra Motel by accident and so happy we did.
As we had limited time we didn't really get to have a full monty experience with the Kookaburra. but we will be going back again and to stay at least two nights.

Very pretty town with a village feeling. Able to walk everywhere and check out the iconic shops along the way. Fantastic food places. Pub really rocked on the Saturday night with live music.
Staff in all places we entered were very friendly and welcoming.

Youngaburra is a charming village near Lake Tinaroo.
Youngaburra is a charming village near Lake Tinaroo. A nice place to wander and quite a few places to eat. The local pub is the 2nd largest wooden pub in Queensland. The people are friendly and the temperature is mild.

We arrived the day of the markets and enjoyed the morning there where we purchased local produce and hand made crafts. We walked along the creek in the afternoon on our way into town and got to see platypus in the creek and the amazing bird life. The town offers several dinning options and we chose to go to Nicks for a pizza and a beer at sunset. Just a lovely break.

A beautiful little town easy to get around however was disappointed that there was a large number of stores not open or had restricted days. We visited on a Tuesday and stayed two nights. Considering this was also school holiday time as well, the main restaurant was not open until Thursday night which left little to choose from except the local pub or a pizza and pasta place. Luckily our accommodation had a kitchen so we stayed in and cooked our own meals.

Yungaburra is very central to things on the tableland.
Yungaburra is very central to things on the tableland. It has a nice little town are and the eating out is great. We would thoroughly recommend travellers to dine at Our Place restaurant but you would definitely need to book.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the beautiful cabin. The breakfast was super generous and delicious. The fireplace that you can turn was mind blowing. There were so many thoughtful little details, like the port in crystal decanter with two little glasses and chocolates heart on the bed. The cabin its self was so well thought out in design and tastefully decorated, especially loved the metal art that also was a hook for the fireplace tools. I would highly recommend Mt Quincan if you are looking for total relaxation.
Everything about our 11 nights at Crater Lakes was magical, The cottage was spotless, comfy and cozy with log fires every night. The birds that came to visit us every day were incredible and the peace of the rainforest that surrounded us was amazing. Just down the road is Lake Eacham wich is so beautiful to swim in and the walk around the lakeis great. So close to Yungaburra and yet so surrounded by rainforest. Our hosts John and Jenny were so warm and welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. What a treat!!!
Miss Bullen's was a very quaint little cottage. There was a veranda out the front and a lovely front yard.
The rear has a backyard with a huge deck and a large table and chairs.
There was a very generous welcome pack of food, including bacon and eggs and bread and even a bottle of wine! :)
The property was a short (a 10 minute slow walk through the park) to the centre of town.
Yungaburra is a very quaint town and has kept a lot of it's old buildings. The pub is one of the grand old style of yesteryear.
We loved this B&B, it felt a little like an English one to me, so comfortable (you just need to be able to go up a set of external and internal stairs to get into it). Fantastic location. It didn't stop raining when we were there (also making if feel like a slice of the UK perhaps!) but we just loved the accommodation. We have stayed in a few other places in Yungaburra but this was the best value for money (and our favourite) for sure.
We loved the cottage (Kingfisher). It had everything you could possibly need and our one regret is that we were only there for 3 nights. Next time will be longer. The cottage overlooks bushland that leads down to Peterson Creek, a great place for a drink and platypus spotting. Yungaburra is a quaint little town with an excellent bookshop, good coffee and pub food. Looking forward to our next visit.
Cottage was licated close to centre of Yungaburra. It was exceptionally clean but did have a musty smell about it. We had been traveling for a while and were thrilled to have a washing machine. We did struggle to get our clothes dry as we had only a few pegs and no clothes dryer. This was remedied on the last day of our stay. The cottage was comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The Church was very quaint and appropriately styled in this gorgeous historial town. It really suited the ambience of Yungaburra. Breakfast supplies and bottle of wine were appreciated. It was very neat and tidy and in a great location to walk to shops. Check in was very easy. Highly recommend for a base to explore all the Atherton Tablelands has to offer.
Gorgeous house right on the lake with great views, facilities, fireplace and lounge - a real home away from home with so many special touches that only enhanced the experience. The weather was bad that weekend and it didn't impact our enjoyment at all, as house was so accommodating!
It totally exceeded our expectations and delivered exactly what it said.
The staff at both the retreat and the restaurant know the true meaning of customer service...would highly recommend to anyone going to Yungaburra, the prettiest town on the Tablelands...Thank you
A lovely little room, not huge, but big enough for us. Great location. Short walk to the amazing Yungaburra Pub. Short walk to the platypus viewing . Our beautiful lady baked scones for us in the afternoon! But we were too full ! Such. A lovely gesture.
The location is within easy walking distance of the township of Yungaburra. Any imperfections the property may have just gave it the homely feel. My wife and I enjoyed the stay immensely and it was good to light the fireplace to keep warm at night.
View was great, tree house isolation was good. Plenty of wildlife scurrying about.very comfortable king size bed. A fabulous accommodation option if attending Yungaburra Folk Festival , about 4 kms from town.
