Oranjestad has a few nice areas for visitors with restaurants, bars and shopping. The water is spectacular! It's easy to get around by taxi or bus. Aruba is very breezy and the sun is hot - so lots of high quality sunscreen is a necessity along with a secure hat. We enjoyed happy hour and small plates at Cuba's Cookin' in the Renaissance Marketplace - try the mojitos!

Most visitors are from the cruise ships, and spend a day here. We enjoyed & days of which 3 days were snorkeling on 3 different beaches (more and we would have been roasted by the sun). The town, and especially the museum is very interesting - very Dutch.
We didn't do much shopping, there didn't seem much (apart for Dutch food in the supermarket) that we couldn't have bought anywhere. Lots of kitchy souvenirs near the cruise terminal. If you like fresh fish, it is well worth taking the bus (or driving) to the "fish market" at Spanish Cove. It is just a couple of sheds on the waterfront where the fish are landed and sold by local small-scale fishermen, who will also clean and fillet for you.

I enjoyed staying right in Oranjestad because I had many options for dining out in the evening. I rented a car so I was able to go to either side of the island pretty easily from there. The Arubus station is right there so I think it would be fairly easy to take that up to Eagle beach if one didn't want to rent a car. I was in town for part of Carnival so it was fun to watch that also.
My photos are of Eagle Beach, Tres Trapi, and Baby Beach. Oranjestad restaurants: Pastechi House, Lucy's - mahi sandwich, West Deck - fish/shrimp, and Dutch Pancake House - Dutch Pancake.

The island is very easy to navigate by auto. Many choices for food and shopping at the super market to grill out is a good way to save money for nights you don't desire to eat out. Sunsets are beautiful most every evening. Go to Boca Catalina snorkeling to see the Sea Turtles. If you want to feel young and vibrant go to Moomba Beach Club on Sunday evening.

careful with the taxi drivers - they dont pay attention to get you to the right destination!
also - very disappointed in Zara at the renaissance shops - its a cruise port and hotel and they wouldn't allow you in with a small suitcase - shame on them
did have a very nice dinner at wilamena - highly recommend!
I stayed in the appartment on the ground floor alongside the pool. This is a very relaxed place. The appartment was spacious. A nice livingroom with a well equiped kitchen and large bedroom with bathroom and shower. Everything was clean and comfortable. Excellent large bed. Wifi very fast. Location close to Oranjestad center is perfect, but the road is quite.
I recommend this place if you are travelling alone. Especially if you want to work from here, mingle a bit with others but do not want the buzz of a typical tourist place.
Breakfast is served as a buffet modality and is very good. Hotel is located about 100 meters from the Surfside Beach which a very quiet one. Hotel guest are provided with a ticket to use the Beach Lounge Chairs at Reflexions a BeachBar with Music with good prices. Watch the Sunsets from there is strongly suggested. In front of the Hotel Sandra's Garden a local Bar with Latin Music and Beverages can be enjoyed Fridays are the nights although is daily open
We were welcomed by our hosts upon arrival, Javier and Liz were always very friendly, helpful and easy to contact during our stay. They also provided many useful recommendations. Luna 39 is a well-equipped and spacious accommodation, beautifully located in a residential cul-de-sac, close to many sites (beaches, shops, restaurants, city centre, tourist attractions). I can highly recommend Luna 39!
Room, amenities, were great. Shelly was really nice to us. Gave us extra towels. We were early to the hotel on our first day and needed to keep our bags so she let us keep them at their office. She also let us use the washroom to change and freshen up. That early check-in really helped us get the trip started on a good note.
The hosts are just incredible! Loved entire family, super friendly and kind. Always there if I needed anything.
Location of the apartment is very central in Oranjestad. Many restaurants and mini markets around.
Nothing luxury, very simple but pleasant place. Amazing value for money, especially in a high season.
Literally walked off the plane straight to the hotel. Ideal location for airport arrival/ departure day. The hotel itself was okay, there is really nothing to do around this area. I liked the lounge and pool area, it was aesthetically pleasing. The fitness center was a huge plus and breakfasts was ok.
The hotel's location was great. We particularly liked having a supermarket within walking distance. Our main mode of transportation was taxi and though we were a bit removed from the others, who also came to Aruba for the championships, the comfort made up for the distance.
One of the best stays overall!
The host is super responsive and supportive.
The property is maintained exceptionally well and I was surprised to find all the amenities you'd normally expect at big chain hotels that charge a lot more.
It’s so friendly and cosy place to stay at. The rooms are big and feature everything you need. The owner was so helpful to us in every questions we had and she made our stay so much better. Will absolutely recommend this hotel.
Maurice was great and responsive. The property was spacious and clean. The pool was a nice addition. Convenience location to Oranjestad and Eagle beach.
Location, free access to Flamingo Beach, friendly staffs, convenient. The hotel has everything that you needed. Nice and clean facilities. Awesome pool.
