We absolutely loved Banff! It was stunning, with incredible views every where you looked. The landscape was beautiful; surrounded by snowy mountains and the town was picturesque. We stayed at Tunnel Mountain Resort, which we loved. We drove to Lake Louise twice, which was absolutely incredible.
I was working in Banff and the position ended. Although my vehicle was full of my stuff I decided to stay the night for the reason I wanted to say my Goodbyes to friends I met during my time in Banff and to get one more night at the Hot Springs. I stayed one night, but wished I had stayed a few more. If I didn't have the opportunity to have worked there, I would recommend staying at least a month. So much to see and do and so many nice people. Nov 30 was my Birthday and guess what happened? There was a herd of Elk that morning with their children, probably Grandparents too. there must of have been at least 60 of them altogether and when I opened my window I heard the mother calling her young. Probably saying hurry up we are waiting for you. Sound familiar ? To those who have children. lol. What an unexpected birthday present. You never know what might happen on your Birthday in Banff. Go For It. You will be glad you did.
Skiing was excellent (Lake Louise was favourite however skied more at Sunshine as the snow was better when we were there); everything in Banff is close by and was near ski hills; friendliness of staff in stores / restaurants/ hotel; pretty town; stunning scenery. Only negative comment is it was limited in non - touristy stores. Discovered Canmore near the end of the trip where we found full grocery store / Canadian Tire to buy things we had forgotten / needed. Would highly recommend Banff and hope to return myself.
The hike thru Johnson's Canyon was awesome!!! We ate at an Irish pub/restaurant on the main street , had liver and onions which was great but fish and chips were not good , fish was tasteless and greasy we did not eat the fish rather disappointing as we dont eat out much rock and gem store is awesome also downstairs souvenir shop is very good bought maple teas and souvenir stickers plenty of variety of those for sure all sales people were very friendly in all the shops we visited
Great ski town and beautiful scenery with lots of good food within walking distance. Love Banff Sunshine and how efficient the ski shuttle is. Great mountain to ski in, no crowds, no lines and lots of great snow and terrain for beginners to experts. Canadians are a super friendly lot and we really enjoyed our stay in Banff.
Visually stunning. Definitely worth going. Maybe stay in another area if you’re going skiing or doing something else. The quality of goods in that general area in the stores is very low. And everything is extremely expensive. It kind of reminds me of a Canadian Disneyland. But it is visually stunning and there’s no replacement for walking around and seeing mountains at every turn. It was gorgeous and I’ll never forget it. The region is an absolute must for anyone. In my opinion. It was breathtaking. It was an incredible experience. I’m just not sure you need to stay in Banff to get it. Don’t miss the gondola 🚠. It is incredible- plus the walk up there. Don’t miss the sulpher basin cave. I’m my opinion totally worth it. Skip the Banff spring bath. It’s a chlorinated pool. If you must and you forget your swimsuit, shorts are fine. Apparently the real springs are in Jasper. Also skip the aboriginal museum it’s borderline offensive and almost frightening,(in my opinion)- apart from a couple gorgeous pieces of beadwork… and I mean a couple. And the information about elder chiefs was interesting. In my opinion the whole museum could have been just about them and First Nations traditions and it would have blown the current situation out of the water. Just my two cents. Oh- I had the best burger of my life at the Rimrock restaurant at the Rimrock hotel. Up by gondola.
Location of the hotel was good, not quite in downtown Banff, so away from any noise/congestion but close enough to be able to walk into downtown easily in about 10 or 15 minutes. The room was cozy - with a VERY comfy and high bed with comfortable pillows and bedding, a large TV & a fireplace with a timer. My favourite part of our stay was the mineral salt ( I think!) Hot tub; the ambience and design of the whole pool area, whilst small, was lovely and very relaxing. The staff were all super friendly and helpful
Banff
Clean and tastefully renovated unit, with everything we needed for our stay. Staff were efficient and friendly. Comfortable beds, very quiet. A bit on the edge of town, but their free bus ticket takes you anywhere you want to go. Close to Tunnel Mountain trail hike, as well as a nice walk that takes you over to the Banff Centre, the Bow River and beautiful views of the Fairmont hotel. Really enjoyed the woodburning fireplace and kindling with self-serve chopped wood.
Location was excellent and we loved the free, heated, underground parking. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go in Banff, such as for dinner. Hotel breakfast (included) was good, too. We went Nordic skiing and used the hotel's wax room at the end of each day. This year the snow was not good around Banff, so we drove to the Lake Louise area every day. The drive was not too far.
This hotel was clean, open, well staffed well furnished and located near downtown Banff, within easy walking distance of what we needed. Room was comfortable with a little balcony that allowed us to enjoy fresh air. Parking in the underground garage was a big plus. Laundry facilities were clean and the machines worked well. Coins were available at the front desk.
The hotel was absolutely beautiful, so much better in person. We had requested an upgrade before we got to the hotel and I would highly recommend it. We ended up staying in the loft with balcony and my goodness was it a luxury feel! Even the parking was fantastic! You are literally steps away from all the restaurants and best shops in Banff!
Banff
Adequate room with a small television. Staff provided wine glasses which was nice as well as coffee as requested. May stay there again. Location is a short walk to Banff Avenue where all the shops are located. Convenient location to the historic Banff Springs Hotel. Close to the Bow River and Bow Falls.
Banff
Since COVID hit, my 91 year old Dad (who recently moved in with me) has not been able to access the gym or restaurants. At the Banff Springs Hotel he was able to walk around the castle, enjoy great meals, and I was able to take my dog for short hikes along the Bow River and Spray River.
The Room was spacious, comfortable and clean, staff were very friendly and the hotel is in good location, close to Banff downtown. Overall, was a pleasant nice staying at Charltons, they upgraded our room to a kitchenette with 2 rooms and mini kitchen.
The location was perfect in downtown Banff. Hotel had friendly staff and check-in and out was quick. Room was large and had large bathroom with jetted tub. Room temperature was manageable considering no ac. Fan was provided. Free breakfast.
Room was spacious and clean, personnel was very kind and helpful, spa was wonderful! As all Banff hotels, location in walking distance from Downtown. There's a bus stop in front of the hotel, as an additional convenience.
The hot tub and sauna were amazing! Great location being only a 10 minute walk to downtown Banff. Super convenient that the shuttle to the ski hills stops right in front of the hotel.
Hotel was 1 block away from downtown Banff. Amazing location. Swimming pool was very clean.
