We took in two meals while in Cochrane on the weekend of Nov 25, at Sakura Sushi and Grill and at the Texas Gate - both were wonderful. Cochrane has a young-family active vibe and we were lucky to be there for the annual Cochrane Light Up, where the streets downtown were filled with music and lights, carolers and celebration to kick off the Christmas season. It was a blast!

The town seems like a nice place to live, we liked the historic town and the saloon. There is a good ice cream parlour but it always has a queue, but worth the wait. Lots of restaurants and close enough to other attractions

Cochrane is friendly and has everything you need.
Cochrane is friendly and has everything you need. It is a short ride to Canmore which is also a very beautiful bit expensive experience.
The one negative was our car rental “Routes Car Rental” I found and reserved it online under Calgary airport car rentals. I received no follow up reservation number. That should have raised an alert after all they had cashed my visa payment. When we arrived at the airport we went to the area with all the auto booths. They had no booth i only found a phone number and address via the Internet. They were a bus ride away!!! They had i record of my order. I had to spell my name, Smith, five times. They had a substitute car which fine and brand new. But it was was A horrible way to start a vacation.

I love the centre of town it has so much character,if you travel in from Calgary on the 1A as you descend the hill above the town the view of the valley and town is quite something.
The Rocky view hotel is a must visit place for those who enjoy great food and drink at value for money prices.
So many visitors to the Rockies will rush by on the way to Banff and miss out, on a town that is packed with history.Slow down people its well worth a visit.

We were in Cochrane for a market taking place at Redwood Meadows. We only went to Tim Horton's for coffee and to the nearest gas station. Anyone we spoke with was very friendly and accommodating when asking for directions.

You can be in the Kananaskis area in under an hour.... and in Banff or Canmore in less than 2 hours. Cochrane town itself has a lovely heritage hotel and a there is a lot of western theme places to see. There is also a wolf-dog sanctuary very close by, which you can take a tour of. You can see the Rocky Moutains very well and there are Themed stores to shop in. You are very close to the Trans. Can. Hwy which makes travel very easy.
This little suite is adorable and very comfortable and clean. Elena, the host, is friendly and warm. We booked in Cochrane rather than Calgary to attend a weekend workshop in Springbank, and the drive was short and scenic. We opted out of breakfast at the suite, but there was a lovely bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us, along with tea and coffee, a nice French Press, and a microwave and apartment sized fridge. A nice touch in the bathroom was the host-family's homemade soaps.
Breakfast was great, good variety of items. The breakfast room is small and temp was hot.
The lady (staff) working the breakfast room was amazing. She was working hard and super friendly.
When we checked into the hotel, Claus (front desk) was super.
Hotel is older, rooms are outdated but it was really clean.
We loved the hardwood floors in the room, so much more sanitary. Room was spotless. Liked the lotions etc. in the bathroom!
Nice and spacious room with table and chairs. Toilet and shower were separate from sink are. Very comfortable bed and pillows. So very quiet with a view of a park. Lots of eating out places near and main town not far away and an easy route to get there. Great value. Mice’s motel we’ve stayed in in this road trip.
I found the desk clerks to be friendly and efficient. Very nicely decorated front lobby and the hotel was very clean and welcoming. My favourite part though I have to admit were the fresh baked oatmeal raisin cookies individually wrapped in the lobby.. very nice touch!
The hotel was a fun experience for a night, but I wouldn't recommend staying longer. We enjoyed the bar where the staff were very friendly and the food was good.
The place definitely has history and Western charm, but I was hoping for more.
It is an older building and we were there during Canada Day celebrations which were being held just across the parking lot. That made accessing our room a little difficult at times. Beds were very comfortable and linens were quite nice
The quite ..loved the back part of the inn...actually I'm originally from Cochrane two of my children still live there and years ago as our family of 7 stayed in your suite...I definitely would stay again and pass on to others
The room was very spacious and well decorated
Hotel was close to restaurants and delivery
Breakfast was not available due to covid restrictions, but a bagged breakfast was offered
Staff was friendly and helpful
The hotel and bar were brilliant. The host was great, the room was comfortable and the building itself was so interesting. Food in the bar downstairs was yummy too - we had ribs and chicken wings.
Stayed at the hotel before and always found the hotel to be clean, friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Nice swimming pool and a good breakfast which is included in the price.
