Home to Oil Sands Discovery Centre explaining the history of the sands and their development. Heritage Village contains a number of vintage buildings including the home of WW I flying ace Wilfred "Wop" May. McDonald Island Park is home to a leisure centre and an Aboriginal Interpretive Trail featuring art installations by a number of Indigenous and Metis artists, and is also a good nature walk next to the Athabasca River. Mitchell's Cafe is a local institution, and recommended for take-out sandwiches and light meals. "Fort Mac" is also a good base for exploring such nearby attractions as the Syncrude "Giants of Mining" exhibit and Gregoire Lake Provincial Park.

Nothing like what you would expect.
Nothing like what you would expect. Although seemingly plagued with disasters like massive forest fires and extensive flooding, the community is very vibrant. People I met about the town were very diverse, and obviously from different backgrounds. A broad spectrum of representation for such a northern town. People were quite polite and everyone seemed busy.

I have worked in this town for years and do not like it here, especially this downtown area where a person is accosted for cigarettes or money at every turn. This visit was for a personal nature, and i have stayed at the Clearwater previously, which is why I chose to stay again.

We liked everything about Ft McMurray.
We liked everything about Ft McMurray. We were there for ball games and the ball diamond we were at were excellent.
It is located in a very nice area of Ft McMurray.
We toured the Oilsands Discovery Centre. We could have stayed much longer than we did. We were between ball games so we only had 2 hours. It is a very interesting and informative centre.
The restaurants we ate at were great, no complaints at all.
We ate and had drinks at The Den, a bar attached to our hotel. It was excellent. The staff, food, drinks & service were the best!
The location was just right for us as we were visiting family nearby. The weather was cold, so the underground parkade was a real bonus. Staying at this hotel where every room is a suite makes it quite comfortable. It even includes a washer/dryer if this kind of service is what is needed. The unit has an outside balcony. The kitchen appliances are full-sized. and the seating area has a regular couch, coffee table, armchair and large HD TV, and there is a separate bedroom, also. Wii Fi was strong and fast.
We have stayed at the Vantage Inn & Suites twice now and both times have been wonderful. The staff at the hotel are very nice and go above and beyond when we needed anything. The lady that works in the breakfast room, I called her "smiley" because she smiles all the time. She is so nice and helped me carry my breakfast to my room, as I had my sister's breakfast and my breakfast. She gave us 2 bottles of water when we left, so we could have it for our long drive home. We will be back again.
The location is very good, the breakfast is very good, the customer services is very good.
The room is very clean, of course, actually the whole entire hotel is very clean.
I was so happy because I stayed at BCMI Fort McMurray - downtown location .
Why did the hotel collect two payments (the preauthorized payment including the final invoice amount). This hotel is shady when it comes to payments. This is a scam. All pre-payments (incidents/hold fees) should be pending not a DIRECT PAYMENT!
came in the hotel late, they were closing the restaurant at 10o’clock I called and they still took my order and the meal was delicious.
very pleased love the customer service.
breakfast was excellent, good selection of food, real eggs not the fake scrambled eggs that are served at most hotels. service was very good all the staff were friendly.
Very large room. Room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Hotel was centrally located to DT and Timberlea where we had business to attend to. Very polite staff.
The hotel was only a short distance from the airport. Staff on front desk were very friendly. The bed was soft. The room was quiet. It was a great stay.
