FAQs about hotels in Jasper

The Uplifting Power of Nature

Jasper sits in a green valley within a national park surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rockies. Water in its various forms has shaped the dramatic scenery and continues to create serene landscapes.

Tree-lined Lake Beauvert is the closest to town, but Pyramid and Patricia lakes are more famous thanks to the rugged peaks perfectly reflected in their still waters. Arguably the best of all is Maligne Lake whose incredible water colour is eclipsed by small, pine-lined Spirit Island. You may not know the name, but you’ll probably recognise the view.

Many glaciers come off the huge Columbia Icefield, roughly midway between Jasper and Lake Louise. Some have cut canyons where you can go ice walking. Other winter sports include ice skating and skiing at the Marmot Basin resort, named after local animals.

Bears inhabit the surrounding forests and more wildlife lives at The Den at Whistler Inn, just one Jasper accommodation option on Booking.com alongside mountain lodges and pet-friendly hotels with pools.

The Jasper Tramway – Canada’s highest cable car – goes to the top of The Whistlers mountain, and on the slopes of another are the Miette Hot Springs open-air pool.  The Jasper-Yellowhead Museum details the area’s history, and traditional Haida styles and colours are celebrated in the modern Two Brothers Totem Pole

Jasper is a cute and walkable little town.

Jasper is a cute and walkable little town. But note, it's little....a lot smaller than Canmore or the Banff towns. Places to stay are also limited in comparison. But the skiing at Marmot was top notch and not crowded at all especially when compared to Lake Louise, Norquay, or Sunshine.

I love Jasper. The mountains views are awe inspiring. As many times as I see them, the mountains continue to amaze me. Jasper still has the local small town feeling that other mountain towns have lost over the years. Many businesses are run by the owners rather than franchises.

Unfortunately the ski season was a bit down this year.

Unfortunately the ski season was a bit down this year. After really cold temps the week before we arrive, they experience warmer than average temps when we were their and snow quality was not real good. We still made the most of our visit by enjoying this winter wonderland and the sites that Jasper provides

To put the review in context, we were only in Jasper for a couple of days prior to the Winter Season to catch The Canadian to Toronto. This meant many of the major sites were not yet available to access. However, while there, what we discovered was a lovely small town that is the focal point for travelling to the beautiful areas in the vicinity. The people are very friendly and helpful and there are also plenty of excellent places to eat and drink. It is worth the visit.

It's easy to get around Jasper.

It's easy to get around Jasper. They have just recently provided long-term parking, which works for those driving their own vehicle to get on and return from the Jasper to Prince Rupert Via Rail train run (Sept. 2023). We picked up Starbucks drinks, ordered food from a variety of restaurants that were yummy. Gluten Free/Dairy Free options are available at a few restaurants; no desserts though, as per usual restaurant fare.

We visited Angel Glacier. Wouldn't have missed that for anything. Malign Lake and the boat trip to Spirit Island was memorable. Glad we didn't miss that. We were there 2 days. 3 would have been better.

A 2 star hotel charging prices and acting like a 5 star hotel. The staff was pretentious and trying to be "posh" like staying at the Jasper Park Lodge or Banff Springs hotel, yet the hotel is comprised of rustic old log buildings. Clean enough, but not fancy and nothing better than a hotel 6 on the highway. However the bungalows are located near the river, with picnic tables and away from the townsite. The dining room looks more like a cafe- without atmosphere as opposed to a comfy welcoming restaurant.

Jasper Lodge is ideal for families and had we known this, we probably would have extended our stay. We stayed in a cabin on the property overlooking the lake and it really accommodated our family of 4 well. The kids loved the outdoor pool and had so much fun. My husband even got a haircut while there! We stayed at all 3 Fairmont Hotels in the Rockies and surprisingly liked Jasper the best. The other lodges are magnificent, but for our family (kids aged 11 and 15) Jasper was perfect.

We stayed 2 nights in a hotel room. Quietly located yet mins to highway, downtown jasper. Jasper park lodge, lake Edith n lake Annette are close to the property. Icefield n athabasca fall are must visited spots. Staffs are friendly. We had breakfast n dinner at the restaurant which was good but the menu list is very limited. Also had bf at Wicked cup and pancake was amazing. Must try Syrah of jasper for good choices of Alberta meat. Food was delicious n service is excellent.

The beds are amazing! We went in Jasper to do a lot of hiking (as most people I guess) and we were able to sleep peacefully in the room. The A/C is working well - which is important in summer and this year especially with the heatwave. Also, they do have a swimming pool and hot tub. We were very surprised that we were the only people to use them (whereas the hotel has lots of rooms). Location is great as well. 5-10 minutes walk from all bars/restaurants/shops/etc.

Reception Services was excellent. The room was comfortable, but not luxurious. The air conditioning worked, but was noisy. There was plenty of parking, and Jasper town centre was a 10 minute walk away. Breakfast was very basic, but included within the room rate. If you simply want a comfortable base and intend to spend your time enjoying the area, then this hotel is perfectly fine for that.

The front desk staff was polite, helpful and charming. The restaurant was good for breakfast. The nearness to the train depot was very handy. This fine, old hotel is beautiful to look at and stay in. The city of Jasper is a delight. Our train schedule left us with plenty of time to explore the city and enjoy it's amenities and character.

The facility really caters more to bus tours. I would not recommend this location. Poor view, average breakfast, not very helpful staff. It was a place to stay only. I had a terrible room overlooking a hotel work truck and a non-responsive front desk so I can't recommend this as a good choice in Jasper.

The room was great and can’t beat the location. Compared to other hotels farther from the centre of Jasper it was expensive, but worth the short walk to the action and the room was much nicer and bigger than other locations I’ve stayed.

Although outside the park, the location is relatively close to Jasper itself and the road to it is very scenic and worthwhile. The cabins are new and impeccable. The sound of the road cannot be heard from inside the house.
