This time we just stayed overnight to catch an early flight. Certainly there are lots of great things to do in Toronto, and I think you can still eat a different country's cuisine every night for a year without a repeat!
Lots to do, very cultural, but traffic at all times makes it hard to get around, but I was there for a wedding so everything worked out very well, close to amenities that I needed and a lot of restaurants close by.
I liked the residential areas and the University campus —lovely quiet and green streets back streets away from the busy ones ! Went to Kensington market also . I was mostly there because my son was giving his Doctoral Recital at Walter Hall . The city is very cultured — there is a great variety of things to do and see !
Liked the variety of spots to visit. Loved the distillery district. Enjoyed Kasamoto in Yorkville lovely food and patio (bit cold outdoors in May) also enjoyed Lee Chen in Yorkville for informal chinese food. Visited Casa Loma - a good value attraction. Toronto Island was nice, would be even better in summer months. Flo’s diner in Yorkville offered a great breakfast and service, although very basic place. Lots of other options available on Bay streer in that area. Used the Metro and Uber to get around. Great views from the CN tower, bit pricey. All round nice trip.
Toronto has a huge homelessness problem at the moment of writing (May 2023). They actually just declared a state of emergency for it. Allan Gardens is filled with tents of homeless people. In the streets around it there are homeless people. Other parts of the city can be nice, like Kensington Market and Queen street, but even there there are homeless people on the trams asking for change. The museums are nice though, try to go on free museum nights like free Tuesday night at the royal Ontario museum or the free Wednesday night at the Art gallery of Ontario. There are lots of tasty food places, we particularly enjoyed a hidden place called Avelo, fine dining in a redesigned Victorian house in an urban street.
Downtown Toronto was way dirtier. Way more housing challenged people. Way more drugs. Way more expensive than pre Covid. Ridiculously more expensive!!! Won't go back unless there is an event and won't stay overnight unless absolutely necessary. Lot's of dining choices until 9:00 or 10:00 PM after that? Expect to pay well over $100.00 at any restaurant that is not fast food! $22.00 for a glass of wine?
Great location away from the crazy downtown core but it was also just a cheap Uber ride to the CN Tower. The hotel was very clean, as was the room. The staff were pleasant and the bellhop was exceptionally nice to speak to on the morning we left. He seemed genuinely happy to be there. I was only there for a short stay but I told my spouse that if we were ever back in Toronto area I’d like to stay there again. The parking was also only $18 for 24 hours which is very well priced considering the area.
It was so clean, the bathrooms were really beautifully updated! It was 15 minutes from downtown Toronto and close the the TTC if you prefer that form of transportation! Breakfast was good & open early enough on the weekend that we didn’t have to wait to eat/sacrifice complimentary breakfast to get our tourism on. Traveling from the US and I just really appreciated the convenience of everything the hotel offered. We are sure to come back next time we are in Toronto!
the staff was exceptional. I was having trouble having my international credit card to work. the staff worked through all my issues and went out of their way to help me. I cannot thank everyone at the hotel enough. The valet was extremely helpful, and he had a taxi waiting to take me to the airport because I had told him earlier in the day about my flight. The room was very quiet, clean, and comfortable, and well located within walking distance of everything downtown.
The best feature of this hotel is the location. It is minutes away from the subway. This means you get easily to and from the airport and the harbour area. The subway and street car system is convenient and pretty good value for getting around. The hotel is also a walkable distance to most of the main downtown attractions. Yonge-Dundas Square is a 10 minute walk. It is close to a fabulous supermarket & LCBO - 5 minutes PLUS plenty of places to eat.
The hotel staff were VERY professional and attended to our needs right away. Both rooms we booked were GREAT and the location was BETTER than I could have asked for. We were right around the corner from the heart of downtown Toronto and within walking distance to pretty awesome attractions. Even better, we were around the block from a cute little diner that was reasonably priced. Pela was AWESOME and had the patience of Job. Give her a raise.
One King West is very centrally located and right next to the Metro Station. No other property around downtown offers such big rooms in general. The hotel has good restaurants which are open late in the night. The property has limited options for breakfast, but there is a cafe within the property with excellent coffee/sandwiches. One King West is a must stay if you are planning to cruise around downtown Toronto.
This hotel is located in Toronto’s downtown core . This made it perfect for walking and central for shopping and restaurants. We loved the restaurant /bar ( Morretti) located on the main level as well as the very “euro” cafe situated in the lobby where you can indulge in yummy Italian pastries ; sumptuous breakfasts and any type of coffee /tea to get your mojo going .
We stayed at embassy suites by hilton near Pearson Airport for our first night in Canada. The free shuttle bus was great and meant it was so easy to get to the hotel and also to pick up our hire car the next morning.. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was clean and breakfast was great. We are planning to return before our flight home.
Very nice hotel, very well located downtown Toronto close to any stores or tourism spots. The staff was very kind and helpful and the bedroom was clean and quiet although it's located just above the jazz bar, we did not hear anything. Definitely a hotel I'd return to next time I'll go to Toronto.
This Hotel is a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Toronto, easy to find and in a quiet treed neighbourhood, Bed was King Size and super comfortable. Wifi was excellent, and still available on my phone in the parking lot. I would certainly stay here again and recommend this hotel.
Scarborough, Toronto
It is a cheap hotel near downtown. Near transit. For the money this hotel was good as other hotels near down town Toronto are in the 300 plus dollar a night, and this one is only 120. You get what you pay for.
Hotel staff, ease of parking in the garage, bed, tv channel selection, location. The location was also quiet which surprised me considering the noise that would come off a major Downtown Toronto street.
Hotels in Toronto are expensive and the Alexandra used to be pretty reasonable. Now it is quite over priced for bare bones accommodation. It is in a good location for downtown.
Best hotel shower I've ever had. Amazing water pressure! For ~$138/nt including tax and including breakfast, it was a very good deal for being downtown Toronto.
The only good thing in this hotel is the location. We were close to the mall and to downtown Toronto.
