Very interesting sitting perched on top of the mountains.
Very interesting sitting perched on top of the mountains. Very gothic city including the Basilica and all the antennas on the top. Quite an unusual vibe in the city. Cooler weather than most cities in the area. Beautiful surroundings.

Manizales is an amazing city - it is very safe, clean and beautiful scenery. It is one of the safest cities I have traveled to in the world, without feeling nervous at anytime. I feel safer in Manizales than many cities in the United States and Europe. Definitely the safest city in Latin America and I have travelled to virtually every country in LATAM with the exception of the Guyanas.

Manizales is a nice small city.
Manizales is a nice small city. The people are genuinely friendly and honest . I have no data on my phone and they went out of their way to help me. Many times ensuring I got to my address and even walked me there.
I asked a lot for directions and in my 6 months travelling Colombia without data , the people were and are exceptional.

Many green hills and much beautiful nature; forests, flowers, birds, scenery.
Friendly people. Close to national park Nevada del Ruiz (ca. 1hour) and several thermal pools (from 15 min. up). A Cable car.
Must have some physical ability to walk many steep streets if you consider walking outside of the main street of the city center.
Has a gastronomic area (G-zone) with many restaurants of all kinds of (international & local) food.

Manizales is not a nice town.
Manizales is not a nice town. I mean it has some modern and nice buildings in the center but most of the buildings in the city were not nice and the whole city looked poor and neglected. If you go with a private car, be aware that on some days traffic is prohibited depending on the number of the car. So a good solution is to go to the nearby town of Villa Maria and take the cable car to the center of Manizales. The town has a wonderful church and a very beautiful square dedicated to Simon Bolivar. If you want to stay there, choose the "Estelar Recinto Del Pensamiento Hotel Y Centro De Convenciones" hotel which is out of the city, it isn't expensive and it's located in an eco-park But it's (a bit)
far away from the center of the town.

The Cable area of Manizales is the place to stay, Centro of the city is noisy and lots of traffic. The entire city is CLEAN! People are friendly.
Surprisingly food is typically not served with any spice or sauce, you always need to ask for salt or pepper. #1 value in Manizales = Bretton Restaurant near the stadium. World Class food and view, 14th floor.
Location: the hostel is right in the center, when arriving by bus to Manizales it's just a 5 minute ride, right next to the cable car station, The host: Maria is an excellent host with good recommendations, super helpful organising trips and onward travel, The place: very well kept house, lot's of wood and detail, the top floor could be a museum or an antique shop (in fact it is), the terrace has good views over Manizales and there is free coffee :-)
The location was great and very convenient. The staff was kind and helpful. The room was clean and it had air conditioner which was very nice since in Manizales can be hot sometimes. Breakfast was very nice and the staff helping serving tables was very nice too. In conclusion, our stay at this hotel was much better than expected and it is for sure that we will recommend it to our friends and will stay there next time we are in Manizales.
This is a good option for coworking in Manizales. Wifi is working good in common areas and there are tables to put your laptop on. I stayed longer than originally planned. All the members of the staff were friendly and helpful. Public spaces were clean and comfortable. I liked the complimentary breakfasts and all day coffee as well. I will definitely return if I happen to be in Manizales.
The Carretero is a semi-standard hotel with all the normal perks, meeting rooms, a gym, a buffet breakfast. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful, the room ok, the buffet breakfast a nice combination of local staples and standard continental/full breakfast.
Within walking distance of the old centre of Manizales, on the main road. Parking at the back, useful.
It has definitely been the best place I stayed at while in Colombia. One can't simply describe how beautiful and peaceful this place is: waking up to birds singing outside your room, facing nothing but nature and an amazing sunrise, while having a cup of the best coffee you'll ever have. Yes, this is the place.
Everyone working in the hotel was very nice and accommodating. There is an amazing view over the city from the common area. Pretty good location, albeit it's uphill if you're heading towards the center (or if you want to reach the cable car to go to the bus terminal)
It's a beautiful lodge. The view of the mountains is amazing and I have never seen so many beautiful hummingbirds in my whole life. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. If I go back to Manizales I will stay again.
The hotel has everything: a beautiful location, friendly staff and delicious food. And of course, the hot springs. The free tour they offer is very nice, because you see the beautiful surroundings and hummingbirds.
The staff were very kind and helpful. The location is good, very central. At the same time l did not like that because of the noise created by traffic and the polution. The hotel is good value for money.
People from Manizales are so extremely kind that seem to be from a different planet. Catherine, the lady at the reception desk is not the exception, she goes above and beyond in customer service.
Superbe terrace with breathtaking views over the valleys, wonderful hotel garden with hummingbirds and other bird's all around, host with helpful ideal and connections on tours.
The friendliness of the people in the hotel is lovely. The location of the hotel was very suitable for my work. I was delighted with the size of the bathroom and its cleanliness.
Everything was good. Clean room, hot water in the showers and good internet. The owners are also very kind and showed me things to do in and around Manizales.
The location: Both quiet and well located to reach every important point in Manizales
The attention: The staff made you feel in the best place on earth
