The most convenient airport for both domestic and international travellers to reach Hřensko is Prague Airport (Václav Havel Airport Prague). It's the largest in the Czech Republic, offering numerous global connections and is approximately 120 km away.
Hřensko, a small village in the Czech Republic, is best navigated on foot due to its compact size. Public transport is limited, with no local bus or train services. However, a car park is available for those driving. Cycling is also an option, but be aware of the hilly terrain. For longer distances, consider hiring a taxi.
The best area to stay in Hřensko, Czech Republic, is the town centre. It offers convenient access to local attractions like Pravčická Brána and the Edmund Gorges, and has a variety of accommodation options.
Hřensko, Czech Republic, experiences a temperate climate with distinct seasons. That corner of Czechia has been described as the lowest point of the country in elevation, and also in taste. There are numerous shops, all run by Vietnamese, selling the same unbranded shirts, shoes, etc. Anything that was branded was of dubious authenticity. I was caught out a few times as credit cards are generally unknown and ATM's will charge CZK195 (!) per cash transaction. Don't expect a convenience store selling day-to-day items, as the shops I visited focussed mainly on bottled drinks, alcohol and cigarettes. However, the location is simply amazing.

The landscape is truly unique in this part of Europe.
The landscape is truly unique in this part of Europe. Despite some trails being closed because of recent forest fires, there was still plenty hiking. I can't remember my last trip when I went "wow!" multiple times a day. Four days is definitely not enough to take in the sheer beauty of this location. We were there in october and the autumn landscapes felt like living in a painting, superb!

The village itself is rather bleak (many closed hotels and restaurants make it so), but then I did not expect it to be the main point of my stay. It's the Bohemian Switzerland National Park that counts and Hřensko (especially the Mezní Louka part where I stayed) is a very convenient base for a walker like myself.

Bring your walking/hiking shoes and check the park schedule.
Bring your walking/hiking shoes and check the park schedule. We were here on closing weekend so it was very busy but we had a great time. We are not in great shale, the hike took us longer than the younger and more fit hikers but the scenery was beautiful and worth the sore legs the next day.

Excellent distinction for those adventurous.
Excellent distinction for those adventurous. The autumn season is just beautiful up in the national park. Unfortunately it was misty and rainy the day we were there. We got to do the boat ride and saw the arch. But the fog limited the iconic images of the arch. Did not get to see anything else on our list. I would recommend staying at least two nights to fully enjoy the hiking, nature and scenery.

Hřensko is a small village, very easy to get around.
Hřensko is a small village, very easy to get around. Although there are many options to eat, thez all serve the same type of cuisine - mostly unhealthy food (svickova, gulas, dumplings); there are very few vegetarian and basically none vegan options for a decent meal. You will get a nice fish at Ceska hospoda and Restaurant U Lipy.
Hrensko is set in a beautiful scenery of the river, rocks and forests, but what disturbes the atmosphere and the genius loci are the cheap clothes/trinkets/tasteless music stands and shops everywhere, focused to cater mainly the German clientelle. The town would do itself a favour if it would rebrand itself and offer some quality traditional Czech or local products/crafts.
Very nice, renovated and family friendly Hotel. We had an apartment with two rooms for 5 people. I would say especially, nice location to spend time also with smaller children, because there is a big playground infront of the hotel and also play corner on the groundfloor inside of the house. Near the hotel is Cafe, where you can order very delicious, homemade and also traditional food. Everything is very close. Hiking trail is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
The pension was very clean and quiet. We were on the street side but did not hear traffic or the trains with the windows shut and did not hear the other hotel guests. The pension is newly and tastefully renovated. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was very good, and the breakfast room was bright and cheerful. We really appreciated the in-room safe so we didn't need to hike with all our valuables. The pension was also an excellent value.
The Hotel Mezni Louka is in the heart of the Bohemian Schweiz area. A beautiful hike starts directly from the hotel and goes all around the park until it reaches the Pravcicka Brana. Then, it is possible to hike down to Hřensko and explore the gorge nearby. The Hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly. There is also a nice restaurant to enjoy a drink or a dinner in the evening. Breakfast is very good too.
We really enjoyed rural experience of this pension with all conveniences at the same time. The room is spacious enough, has nice shower and tiny kitchen. The terrace outside allowed us to enjoy a peaceful dinner together. The air is really fresh, one can enjoy the silence and harmony of nature. On top of that they offer really cheap yet delicious breakfast in the hotel 300 meters away.
I loved the location, lovely yard and gardens, view, little amenities in the room like the microwave, fridge, dishes, and coffee maker. The shower/water pressure was very nice which was important to us because we were hiking/biking and getting frequently hot/sweaty. I loved that the property is historical but has clearly been well-maintained. And there is a very nice cat outside.
Very nice room with incredibly comfortable bed. Very close to the S-Bahn (via 2 min ferry), the river and beautiful walks. On quite a busy road, but we asked for a quiet room at the back of the hotel and couldn't hear any noise with the windows closed. Staff were very friendly and let us leave our bags when we went for a final hike after checking out. Would definitely recommend!
The hotel was quite comfortable and honest about it's offer. They make sure you are aware that you chose a room with a shared bathroom. However, these shared bathrooms feel actually more like private bathrooms outside of your room, since it is one private room with sink, shower and toilet. You will not be sharing it with anyone else at the same time.
It is a very good place to stay in Bohemian Switzerland and close to the trails both on Czech side and not far from Saxony. Location is perfect and the hotel is pristinely clean with comfortable beds. Hosts are very friendly and the breakfast is also very tasty.
A big bonus was that there's free food (pizza, muffins etc.) accesible after you've come back from a mountain hike or if you're just tired and don't want to look for cafes in the area. The balcony had an amazing view. Private hotel parking was also a big plus.
This place is located in amazing place. It's good for relaxing or for hiking or just enjoying the scenery.
The staff is friendly and the hotel is very nice.
Even if you are not going to stay in the hotel - still visiting the restaurant highly suggested.
Love the location, we were traveling to go for a hike and the hotel is right on the hike path.
I loved the restaurant, the food, and the fire stove, perfect when coming back from a hike with snow and having a garlic soup next to the fire when coming back
Great little hotel with a nice history! We arrived later in the evening where the hotel reveals it's beauty at night with the nice light settings. Very good starting point for some hiking tours. We recommend the stay here!
Excellent staff
Very attentive to details and very helpful and genuinely friendly.
Recently refurbished hotel with adequate facilities.
Very good restaurant and very good breakfast
Very nice place, great location, everything was clean. The double rooms are pretty small, but cozy. Parking right in front of the hotel and quick and efficient self check in.
Really nice hotel with fantastic views over the national park. Staff really friendly and accommodating. Good food. Free welcome drinks. Hotel room clean and comfortable bed.
Very nice hotel in the perfect location to explore Saxon Bohemian area! Hotel staff was friendly. The room was nice and spacious with a balcony overlooking the the canal!
A hotel in a beautiful and pastoral location. Accessible to the main road. Efficient staff and comfortable rooms. There is a beautiful and comfortable yard.
