Highlight of my trip was the view from the observation tower on petrin hill it's a bit of a hike up but the stroll down is beautiful and at only 120kc/€5 to climb the 300 steps of the tower it's the best value attraction. Other brilliant spots were the astronomical tower (on the hour), Jewish quarter the changing of the guard (noon) at the castle. My favourite place to eat was J.J. Murphys near the Mala Strana I'd recommend the fajitas also great value for money plus if your not into beer the serve a Czech cider which is sweet and refreshing. Don't overlook the Czech restaurants though you find great value for money and great home cooked food! Prague is perfect if you like to stroll around everything is really within walking distance and it's a fantastic way to see the city. But if your not big into walking then trams and metros run everywhere and are easily accessible! The only annoying part I found is that the vast majority of tourist attractions are very expensive to get inside and on top of the entrance fee the charge you to be able to take photos which I think is a little much things like the Lego museum can be avoided 200kc/€8 plus 50kc/€2 photo licence very much over priced for the short exhibition it is. The castle and Jewish Quarter are also very expensive to get inside and again you need a photo licence although you want to see inside I'm not sure if it's worth the 250kc/€10 plus photo licence or 300kc/€12 plus photo licence I paid respectively. Although I don't regret seeing the inside I just think for that money you should get a little more.
Prague is an old city with a young soul. The architecture is outstanding. Always remember to look up while walking in the streets otherwise you will miss the sight of beautiful buildings. The modern shops are merged very well with the classic buildings. Shopping, food and drinks are cheap compared to other European cities. City is small so you can basically walk it all on foot. We stayed for 5 days, did not take any transportation. Local food was ok but not outstanding. We attended a classic music concert, it was not bad, but had a rather small orchestra (around 10 persons), not a full orchestra as one would expect. The pubs/clubs are cheap, nice and cozy. If you 're into clubbing and don't know where to go, check pubcrawl out, they arrange group clubbing every single night and take u to 4-5 pubs and clubs. Czeck does not use Euros, it uses Coronas. When you exchange money, make sure you exchange from a shop that do not take commission, in one shop, we paid 28 EUR commission to exchange 100 EUR!! (of course we didn't know although it is written but in a small font), while the place right next to it took zero commission. The free Prague tour is highly recommended (you are expected to pay a tip though). The guides are very interesting and speak perfect English. In Christmas, there are nice big Christmas markets in the major squares where they sell souvenirs, street food, and sometimes play live music. I would definitely visit Prague again.
Easily my favourite city in Europe. Old Town/ old town square is absolutely beautiful- make sure to visit the astronomical clock and climb the clock tower to get the best view over the whole city centre. Cross the iconic Charles bridge for a stunning gothic city scape and stop off at the John Lennon Peace Wall on your way over- bring spray paint to make your own colourful contribution. Enjoy the walk up to Prague Castle and revel at the stained glass in the amazing cathedral. After this it's only a short walk up to the monestary- the library is worth seeing and try out some Czech beer brewed there. Also plenty of shopping near Wenceslas Square and the Palladium. Get lost in the Jewish Quarter and stop odd at the cemetery. Definitely do not forget to try the Trdlník, goulash and dumplings, hot chocolate and hot wine!! I stayed in Prague for 4 days and it was just right, any less I would of lost something. A charming city with great nightlife and fun to be had, totally affordable, with beautiful sights to see, I'm a 19 year old female travelling alone and felt completely safe. I 100% recommend Hostel One Home! Only thing to avoid is buying anything in Old Town Square (tourist prices are crazy, expect to pay 10 dollars for a hot drink) and the Red light district at night
Prague was the last and most enjoyable of my 8 week trip. It had the best of both worlds, great tourism with seemingly endless possibilities, great shopping with decent prices, and wonderful accommodation that was very central. I didn't have to use public transport once. Even in the cold it was beautfiul with a rich history to share and plenty of street performers to keep you entertained till late evening around 10pm. I felt very safe walking around as the shops stay open late. Some places were a little hard to find as icons on the maps sometimes covered the detail of the direction but everyone spoke English and were very helpful if I got lost. This only happened once.
We travelled in January so wasn't peak tourist time and was -11 at times which was amazing for snow and to see the picturesque scenery. Charles Bridge is amazing but is a lot better of an evening or at sunset due to being fairly busy of a day with street performers etc. Same with many of the sights such as old town square, going up the tower is a must. A walk to Petrin park is also a great way to explore Prague and to eventually end up at the castle. Explore restaurants off the beaten track for great prices and excellent eats, we recommend Sansho (Asian-fusion) and K the Two Brothers (Indian) but for authentic Czech food with a modern twist and glamorous surroundings try Mylenc at the Charles Bridge, excellent service and views. For evening drinks, try the cool and sophisticated cocktail bar Hemmingways just off the Charles Bridge, excellent mixologists and perfect for evening drinks. Overall Prague is an excellent and easily accessible city, perfect for couples to spend their day wandering around the picturesque sights and surroundings.
Charles Bridge is lovely - great views with buskers and people strolling. Food generally is not great in Prague but coffee is good. Good value generally but watch prices in taxis and get a quote before you set off (and an idea of prices). Vintage car journeys to see sights look nice but drivers are particularly grumpy (I tried to negotiate for an evening journey with a few and they were all rude, unhelpful and miserable). Best value was a jaz boat trip. Thoroughly enjoyable evening sailing up the river accompanied by great jaz trio and served by very nice staff. Wenslaslas square is disappointing with lots of modern shops but the old town square is a delight. Lots to see in Prague but suggest you get organised first - then go with the flow for the odd quirky event. Great theatres with classical music, jazz ballet etc. Really interesting city - and don't be put off by rumours of stag and hen parties - we didn't see any. I've been 3 times with different groups of friends and different experience each time. A real treat of a city if you like culture, history, art and quirkiness. Buildings are a delight. Will definitely return. There's something for everyone.
Top class hotel. Easy check in, helpful informative staff. Great room. Spacious, spotlessly clean. Beautifully presented. Excellent servicing daily. Bathroom complete and supplied with free soaps, shower gel etc. Fantastic breakfast. Great variety of fruit juices, breakfast cereals, fresh fruit, different cold meats, cheeses. Also hot cooked breakfast items. Full range of coffees and teas too! So something for every taste. I varied my choices daily and that made it all the more enjoyable! Live Piano music early evening daily by the Bar area. Soothing, relaxing and so enjoyable with an pre dinner drink or even an early nightcap! Overall a superb and memorable experience!
The hotel staff were very very helpful. Helped us get tickets to a concert and transport. They did everything to make our stay in Prague outstanding. Shower was awesome. Bed was great. The breakfast was the best we’ve had so far in our travels. Located out of the main harangue of the bridge and old town which suited us well.
We like the room its very clean and spacious.I've requested an early check in because of our early arrival and they accommodated us.Good breakfast aswell.Good access in executive lounge and most off all a short walk in metro station. THUMBS UP Clarrion Congress Hotel...
