If you love winter sports, in particular biathlon then...
If you love winter sports, in particular biathlon then Oberhof is the place for you. Also it's ideal for hiking and cycling especially along the Rennsteig. Ideally is best to have a car. The location of the Obere Schweizerhütte was right next to the bobsleigh, luge and skeleton runs. The cable car to the top was amazing and once at the top you're at the biathlon stadium. You xan also have a shooting experience.

There were lots of activities to be done by both kids and adults. We as a family enjoyed many events including laser shooting, pool, chess game, play area and general walk around the hotel. The breakfast was very wide, with a special area for kids to take their own breakfast (everything was at their eye level). A real family experience. Wish we had taken it for longer duration.

The staff was wonderful. One of the managers there spoke Czech, which was nice for us since our German is passable but it made it much easier. They have a nice sauna as well and are centrally located in Oberhof. This was our second time staying there for training in the indoor Nordic center.

Lovely views, good parking. Shared kitchen and community room but also within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Lots of opportunities to explore this wonderful landscape, including the world famous Rennsteiggarten for alpine plants. Will come again.

Plenty of free parking front and back. Studio was comfortable and clean with plenty of space for 2 people. A lovely place for a quiet, relaxed, outdoor holiday.
