Europa Park Thrills and Black Forest Hills
Set between the Rhine River and the Black Forest, Rust is a small German town that is best known for its huge Europa Park. The largest theme park in Germany, it only comes second behind Disneyland Paris as Europe’s most popular amusement park.
The park’s 16 themed zones contain a variety of high-adrenaline rides as well as attractions better suited to younger children. There are also shows, a 4D cinema and various eating
establishments all over the complex.
In addition to the elaborately designed hotels within Europa Park, Booking.com has a fantastic range of Rust accommodation including hotels with outdoor pools, apartments with parking, and cheap guest houses.
However, this is of course not the only reason to visit. The Baden-Württemberg region offers some wonderful cycling routes, and the hills to the east of Rust are also popular for hiking.
The town is located less than 1 hour’s drive from the Black Forest spa resort of Baden-Baden and the colourful city of Freiburg. Each route passes by lush vineyards and little towns with half-timbered houses. Historic Strasbourg is over the border with France to the north, while Basel to the south is a lesser-known Swiss gem.

Rust is just for Europa Park visits, and does not offer much for other expectations. But EP is very amazing, especially for families. A 2-day visit was ideal for us, but depending on the kids' ages and joy, a few more days can be worth it. (Also parents have joy, too!)

Rust is a fantastic little town in South West Germany.
Rust is a fantastic little town in South West Germany. Plenty of eateries, bars and bakeries. Europa Park, Germanys biggest, and probably one of the best Theme Parks in the world is on its doorstep, as is Rulantica Water Park.
Good base for Europa/Rulantica and visiting Black Forrest.

The great secret about visiting Europa Park with the family...
The great secret about visiting Europa Park with the family is the adjacent town of Rust. You can either sit in the traffic jam that morning with the entire rest of south western Germany, Switzerland and France, or you can stay the night before with the family, have a leisurely breakfast and then either catch the local bus over or walk, depending on your hotel's location. It's nicer than the Europa Park parking experience, and staying in Rust gives you somewhere to collapse with the family after a long day on the rides. There's hotels with parking, supermarkets for the essentials and cheap family restaurants. It feels like a cheat code few others have found yet for an enjoyable stay.

Rust is geared around Europa Park and Rutlantica.
Rust is geared around Europa Park and Rutlantica. We should have hired a car as unless we were in the parks there was very little to do. The parks are fabulous and great fun, we had a blast in them and will be back. The people of Rust are really friendly, there are plenty of places to eat on a night however nothing is open through the day for food (apart from one kiosk outside the front gates).
Rust is very pretty but quiet.

One half of our group spent 2 days at Europapark but the queues were at least an hour long for each ride, for a ride which was 1’. Saying that though, it was a public holiday on the Thursday. When we drove off on Friday, not a public holiday, the traffic jams coming into Rust from every highway as horrendous….
The other half of us rode our MTBs to Schwarzwald (30’ by bike away), which was amazing with beautiful trails and bakeries along the way to stop at.
Sparkling clean place, friendly hosts, great location. We had a wonderful stay in Rust and will definitely be back. The kitchen was very well stocked, the beds were comfortable and our host was super knowledgeable and helpful. The bathroom was beautiful, we loved the decor. Everything was perfect. If you're staying in the summer you might want to add air conditioning for a small fee, especially if you like to keep your bedroom on the colder side. We slept with the windows open and were quite comfortable though.
This hotel is suitable for people that arrive with a car. The area is super quiet. The apartment is very nice and includes a separate bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Everything was clean and well taken care of. The distance to Europa park is very short and that makes the good location . Upon arrival, I needed a good coffee and I was very glad to meet a Phillips machine with coffee. It was a please to meet the owner Micha. I recommend Gästehaus-Après-Park
The guest house is an amazing family run hotel in Rust. We were surprised on how Incredibly clean the room was. Spotles!! The location is extremely convenient, at no more than 10 min from the main entrance of Europapark, we could just walk there and park in the hotel. The day began with an amazing breakfast, that even included some
Warm milk for our baby girl. Totally will come back here if visiting europapark again.
this is the ONLY hotel I have found that has an Asian style bidet. It automatically my favorite 😍. it is located within a 5 min drive to Rulatinca and 10 minute walk to Europa park. They will also give you free parking passes for the park if you want to try to drive there but we just walked. they have a decent breakfast and a kids play area. this is very good for families.
A fantastic little hotel. Stayed in room 202, absolutely spotless and a lovely spacious room. It is clear to see that the cleaning staff work really hard.
The breakfast was delicious with a large range of options.
Staff were very friendly and a lovely gentleman drove us via shuttle bus to the entrance to Europa Park every morning. I would highly recommend this hotel :)
The guesthouse and it's staff is super nice, friendly, helpful and very kind. Location is 1st class, it's really near to Family Park. Parking place is very good and free. Room was clean, tidy and well equiped. Breakfast is delicious and rich ❤ dinner was great, too. I can only recommend Guesthouse Mythos to spend your night in Rust. 😊
We loved the cleanliness, spaciousness, comforts (yay air conditioning!), location, and caretakers of Gitas Haus. With our extended family (11 in total), we had 3 apartments. All were excellent quality and our largest sufficient size to host everyone for lunch and dinner. Nicely located in Rust - very easy walk to EuropaPark.
The hotel was right in front of europa park, even the europa park hotels were not so close!
There is a mini market from the hotel, that serves pizza till 22:00.
The room is comfy.
They let us get into our rooms earlier because we arrived too early and we had our baby with us.
Very cosy Italian style hotel with short distance to Europa Park. The staff was very friendly and the food was good! Having airconditioning in tropical temperatures was also nice, though it did have a life of its own sometimes 😅 (starting at random when we turned it off) 🤣
Location is awesome - just 10 minutes walk to the Europa Park, which would be probably why would you choose Rust as your destination. The apartment we stayed in (Nice) is in the basement, which turned out to be an advantage during the heat wave.
The hotel was very very close to Europa park entrance, and having the groceries store right under the hotel was very useful.
The room was quite and the bunk beds for my 2 sons was a good advantage, so the 4 of us styed in one room.
On the plus side we liked the location of this hotel as just a few minutes walk to europa park and also plenty of restaurants just a few feet away.
The bedroom was clean.
The breakfast was good, there was plenty of choice.
The staff was very lovely and friendly! The hotel was very close to the places we wanted to visit (Europa Park/ Rulantica). Free parking on the property and free breakfast every morning of our stay :)
Great hotel to visit Europa Park! Staff is friendly, rooms are comfortable and clean, breakfast is really good!
Free parking lot aside of the hotel, walking distance to main entrace of the park!
