Everything at Al Moudira is magical! Understated chic, to me what a 5 stars should be. The gardens were stunning, attention to detail and decor - a surprise in each corner. Fantastic food, beautiful rooms and amazing staff, always willing to go above and beyond, without being pushy.

The hot air balloon was really the highlight of our tour in Luxor. No one should miss it along with the visits to the Valley of the Kings, Queens and Hatshetsup Palace. Downtown Luxor was also a must-see specially the old market place and the Luxor Temple and don't forget about the local food.

Luxor's archaeological sites are the most impressive I've ever seen. They are spectacular.
I went in April, in spring, and the temperature reached 38 degrees Celcius. The locals told me that in summer the temperature will be around 50 degrees.
The population appears to be very poor and the city is poorly maintained.

So much !
So much ! Magic Carpet Tours were excellent, organising a wonderful balloon ride, a dreamy sunset felucca trip to Banana Island, an amazing driver called Hassim who took me to the Valley of the KIngs, Hatshepsut's Temple, Karnak, Memnon Colossi, Temple of Luxor, and didn't hurry me at all. He drove me to Aswan the next day via Edfu and Kom Ombo. Luxor is fabulous, busy, lots of street sellers trying to get you buy or ride in their horse carriage, but a polite 'La Shukran' (no thank you) was fine and they are just making a living like the rest of us! Nefertiti Hotel was a peaceful sanctuary, and I would not have missed Luxor for the world. Personal highlights: Karnak Temples and Seti's tomb at the Valley of the Kings - awe-inspiring.

The temples and archaeological sites are amazing.
The temples and archaeological sites are amazing. But beware of many people in Luxor trying to get you on the horse and cart, boats, sell you stuff, and who follow you around trying to con you. Dont be duped into going to the "one day a week" market that is a bazaar/shop in a dirty back street. If you dont buy anything they will demand 1000EGP anyway. The souk (market) is ok, but the harassment to buy is too much. I felt very uncomfortable after 3 days and wanted to get out of there

Luxor is a beautiful place with an immersive history.
Luxor is a beautiful place with an immersive history. Karnak & Luxor temple and Avenue of Sphinxes on East Bank of Nile & Valley of Kings/Artists, Hatshepsut temple, Medinet Habu, Deir-el-madina on the west bank are the places we visited during our stay.
We didn't eat out as it was Ramadan and we wanted to be discreet with food when travelling to the sites.
We hired a guide through Aswan individual to drive and explain the significance behind the places we visited and hence, unsure as to how to travel otherwise. Having a car would be better, as the sites are spread across the city, but a cycle would do just fine.
It is better to start early in Luxor as it tends to get hot as the day progresses. So, we did most of our trips from around 7 till 2 and rested in the afternoons.
We really enjoyed our time in Luxor.
The hosts are amazing and very very nice! They truly care that their guests have a great experience in the way YOU want. Best of all, they honestly provide you with all the information needed to explore Luxor without being pushy to take their services unlike oftentimes in Egypt. They helped to save us a great deal by pointing out local shops and transportation. The Egyptian breakfast was also great and the restaurant has a great view on the West Bank monuments! Thank you for having us!
There should be more wider view towards the Nile from the hotel, also it would be nice to be able to stay at balcony to enjoy of the view. Now couldnt do that so much when the balconies are way too tiny. I love Egypt and also own peace so staying at the pool isnt always so peaceful so that is why it would be nice to have a chance to stay at balcony too. Poolarea were nice though, very nice :) And taken care of, it was clean. And gym, that were so nice! Loved to exercise in there.
This is a 5 star hotel from the 70s . Rooms are stuck in antiquity. But having said that, the pools, reception foyer and ambience is exceptional. Front Desk staff are OK. But the staff who are at pool and room cleaning are attentive and warm. Please tip as much as you can, as it will help immensely. Breakfast was quite good and the staff here were very helpful.
Egypt has No Visas for South Africans and all Sites are at Egypian prices and this is a Win Win
Everything!! This place is absolutely incredible. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. Great location away from the hustle and bustle of the east bank, but just a 2 minute complimentary boat ride across. Every detail of this place has been well thought out. Menu changes each day and the food was excellent! You would be doing yourself a disservice not to stay here during your time in Luxor. It was my favorite stay in all of Egypt.
· I really loved the restaurant where they served breakfast and lunch/dinner. I was able to watch the balloons in the morning from the west bank. You can walk across the street to Luxor temple which I liked as well. Wael, the receptionist was super helpful and they also helped us hold luggage in the lobby while we explored our extra day. The value for this hotel is really great and one of our favorite places we stayed in Egypt.
Owner is very kind and helpful.
Good breakfast at the rooftop (jam, yogurt, cheese, scrambled egg, pitta, salad, tea, banana).
West bank of Luxor is much more Egyptian and less tourist-focused than the shiny east bank.
Cold water but clean swimming pool in the courtyard. One minute walk to the shopping street or the riverbank where cheap boats take tourists to the other side. A littlebit village atmosphere around the hotel.
Location was great, every important place was near. The apartment is small but since Luxor is a city for exploring ancient history, you won't spend much time inside anyway. The hosts, Austin and Abeer are some of the nicest people we've met in Egypt so far and were very relaxed and helpful. The best part is the roof which is spacious, has a bar, a pool table and more. Definitely would recommend.
Peaceful setting on the West Bank of Luxor. Rooms are large and well furnished with comfortable beds, fine bedding, desk, and a sitting area. The hotel is decorated with interesting Egyptian antiques and the outside garden was a wonderful place to relax and eat our meals which were delicious. Most of all, we enjoyed the hospitality and kindness of Abdu and his family. We’ll be back!
Everything: friendly, efficient and well educated staff; beautiful hotel with a terrace where you can enjoy the wonderful view of Luxor Temple (you can eat your meals there, the restaurant is quite cheap and above all very good); perfect location near main attractions; clean and beautiful room, certainly above average egyptian standard). I would come back here
Amazing traditional Egypten hotel with verry familiar atmosphere.
The staff was allways helpful and the room where verry spacious.
The room was clean and there's everything you needed during our stay in europe.
The location is on the other side from the river of Luxor. It's verry easy to across the river by the ferry to go to Luxor.
Perfect hotel for a stay in Luxor! The staff is lovely. The rooms are very good . The roof top with swimming pool is sublime with its view of the temple. The hotel is ideally located in relation to the attractions of the city. Finally breakfast is really a plus, it changes what many hotels of this range in Egypt offer.
The location is great, just 5min from Luxor temple while the river Nile is just in front of your legs. The rooms are spacious. Breakfast was great with many options to choose. Also dinner and lunch were great at a very reasonable prices. The garden is a small oasis of oxygen in the heavy atmosphere of Egypt.
Perfect end to our trip in Egypt. Stunning hotel and a nice pool to cool off in after exploring Luxor. The room we had was beautiful and comfy. Staff and owner are friendly and a great sense of humor. Really enjoyed our time here
It’s perfect for family traveling to Luxor.
The room had several beds and two televisions. The pool looked inviting and breakfast was nice. Good security and it has an atm machine for getting Egyptian Pounds.
Egyptian, central, clean, great staff and the views and food from top floor restaurant were very nice. One stop shop for us as also booked our Luxor and Cairo tours at the hotel and enjoyed them all.
Very peaceful hotel just outside Luxor city center, just next to Nilo river. Huge and tasty breakfast everyday, nice pool areas, nice staff. Wifi was great for egyptian standards. Super comfy rooms!
The hotel is amazing from location and view but what makes it the top choice for not only Aswan but Egypt is the staff. They go above and beyond to make your experience magical.
The location was great for visiting Luxor and the pool was amazing! The hotel is very modern and luxurious - not dated like some of the other big brand name hotels in Egypt.
