Everything about this hotel was perfect. The location in the city with shops and history in one direction and the harbour with all its bustle and activity in the other made walking anywhere very easy. We particularly liked the little extras the staff did. Eg, the first evening room service knocked on our door with a little tray of welcome cakes. My husband's birthday fell during our stay and the receptionist not only recommended an excellent restaurant for a special meal, but booked us a table and informed the staff at the restaurant of the special occasion and they arranged a little celebration. Later back at the hotel, we got another cake delivered to the room. We also liked the lady who came every evening to turn down the ved and leave chocolates which pleased my husband no end!

Breakfast was fine but we were at the end of the season when we think lots was closing down so probably not the same as in high season.
Location was ok for us as we have family there but would not visit otherwise as nothing to do.

Cartagena is a beautiful city with stunning architecture, a lovely waterfront, charming squares surrounded by restaurants, and wonderful Roman ruins to see. We would definitely return for a longer stay, as we were only there one night.

Cartagena is a beautiful, small city- not crowded like the other cities we visited. Beautiful architecture along with Roman ruins, especially the amphitheater. Didn’t get to fully explore it, because I was sick one day. Worth a repeat visit.

If you are interested in history there is lots to see in this area, The Roman Ampitheatre, The Underwater Archaeology museum, Drive out from Cartegena on the minor roads in to the hills to discover lots of industrial archaeology. Take a boat trip round the harbour. Discover Aledo a hilltop town. Eating out can be cheap if you eat the menu de dia or a feast if you order off the main menus.

I spent 16 nights in Cartagena because I ran out of money during my backpacking trip in Europe and this was one of the cheapest places to stay in Spain.
Cartagena is a naval port town dotted with ancient ruins, medieval batteries, and beautiful mediterranean foliage. You can spend your time relaxing at la playa, hiking in the national park, having beers at hole-in-the-wall bars, and people-watching with your tostada de tomate in the late morning. The people are friendly and the street cats are adorable. It’s very walkable but there is an extensive bus service as well. It’s maybe not the most amazing coastal spot in Spain but if you’re broke, Cartagena is a lovely town to spend your time in.
Favourite hike: Mt Roldán
Favourite breakfast/coffee spot: Cafés Céldran
Favourite activities: the tourist boat (only 6€!), the Roman Theatre, and the Municipal Archaeological Museum

Cartagena is a lovely city.
Cartagena is a lovely city. Loads of things to see, museums, Roman ruins and more modern sights like the Civil War air raid shelter near to the castle.
The centre of the city is lovely with lots of places to eat and drink at not very expensive prices. The tapas choice is brilliant and offered by every restaurant. It's easy to walk around the town and you don't need a car. The open top Tourist bus is a good way to see the city, so well worth the hour round trip.
We'd definitely make another visit.

Great little city for a two/three night stay (maximum).
Great little city for a two/three night stay (maximum). Lots of history in the Roman teatro, the castle and the naval museums. Nice traffic free city centre with plenty of choice of restaurants and bars, Friendly and safe.
Best value for location, friendly staff, room cleanliness, and comfort. Perfect location one step away from main street. Cartagena is a place that I will promote to my friends from now on. I love the city vibe and the mix of historical sites and contemporary shops and the port! It's a social city with multinational visitors that make a difference.
The receptionist (Gonzalo if I'm not wrong) was so nice to be my city guide and shared the best value restaurants. I did listen to him and didn't regret it!
Perfect Location by the port and close to key Cartagena attractions e.g. the Roman Theatre and the Naval Museum as well as beside the main shopping street. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Good room facilities including coffee/tea machine and various toiletries. On a small ( but important ) point for ladies, this was one of the very few hotels I have ever stayed in that not only provides hair shampoo but also hair conditioner!!! Excellent touch.
The apartment is directly across from the Alcazar and a short walk to the main attractions in Cartagena. The host met us on arrival and assisted with parking in the garage that is immediately below the apartment. The apartment was spacious and it was nice to have both a full and a half bath for our group of 5. There was a continental breakfast included which was nice. It was a comfortable stay and great value.
This hotel was fully digital, I was able to open the car garage, front door to the building, and my room with my phone. It was the most convenient thing I’ve ever experienced with a hotel. The room was amazing. It was literally a small apartment. It had everything you could need, fridge/freezer, sink, stove top, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, cutlery, dishes, they even had a free mini bar which is amazing.
Breakfast served in bar on opposite side of square and options limited. Hotel location is fantastic for a visit to Cartagena and the hotel sky bar is great in warm weather. Only a few seconds walk to the main street of the city and secure parking only a hundred yards from the hotel.
The staff member, Maria, was very pleasant and helpful
The hotel was refurbished recently so looks very nice and clean; close to the old city center; for parking, we recommend the public parking ( the blue one) as during the night you do not need to pay and that is between 8pm till 9am next day. during the day the parking is only 0.5 euro per hour. cheaper compare to the hotel parking;
The hotel interior has definitely seen better days (as in faded carpet in the halls, dated/worn furnishings in the room), but the location, staff, value, and breakfast made up for any shortcomings, as far as we were concerned. Everyone who works there was kind and helpful — we'd go back, I'd say.
The hotel is very tidy, room was spacious and clean. Staff very attentive, I've requested an iron + a board which they've provided within 5 mins :)
There is a 24h cafeteria on the street next to it.
They have an Xbox area (will check it next time)
Best location overlooking the harbor! Centrally located for food and shopping. Breakfast was great, hotel uses a wonderful bakery, makes fresh juices. Had two other meals there and was quite good. Very attentive staff.
We really enjoyed our stay in Tara Casa. There are a lot of nice and not very crowded beaches a short drive away. The hosts were very friendly, we even did a course on how to make mosaics on our last day!
Relatively cheap rooms near the center of Cartagena. Clean rooms and bathrooms. We didn't use any other facilities of the hotel. Also very quiet even though our room was on the street side of the hotel.
Nice little apartment, clean.
The host was great. He helped with my bags and showed me were the bus was and got me checked into my new place. He is the best thing about the place.
It was such a great hostel I am so glad I discovered this gem of a hostel. Literally was just like staying at a 5 star hotel for not even close to the price
