The hotel is situated on the shores of the Bay of Biscay, in the incomparable setting of the fishing town of Lekeitio.

[My review covers both text boxes, as Booking does not provide enough space for it to fit in just one]
We don’t often book the most expensive rooms in hotels, as they are generally way overpriced for what they offer. However, as we had booked a 2-night stay in the coastal resort of Leiqueitio after a long road trip through Spain, we decided to indulge and booked an ocean view double room, their most expensive offering.
Entering the hotel compound, we were happy to find an excellent parking space in the (very) limited lot. However, we learned shortly thereafter that we had to move the car to another, much less convenient one, as the one we first picked was RESERVED (yes!) for another guest (a Spanish fellow). This is the first hotel I encounter where you reserve even your parking space!
We were not given the best room on our floor (the 2nd), nor were we given one of the best and largest rooms on the top (3rd) floor, although we were paying full asking price… but let’s not grudge: the room was spacious and the ocean view was there as expected. The bed was king size and the room furnishings adequate, even though shelf space in the closet was scarce and poorly arranged. Note that this is another one of those hotels that fear their customers will steal coat hangers —after having paid 150 euros per night, breakfast not included (see photo).
The bathroom was much less satisfying. Large but windowless and cavernous (mediocre for shaving and very bad for making up), it featured two sinks… but one of them has no access to the on-the-wall soap dispenser, and is therefore basically useless! And it’s those fashionable rectangular sinks with flat bottoms that take ages to empty… not nice! See photo. One of them didn't drain properly.
On the same theme, there are bathrobes, but where do you hang them to dry once you’ve used them? There is not one single wall hook in sight in the bathroom!

Gorgeous views but the place felt a little old and needed updates. The room was very spacious. The free parking is a bonus as parking in Lekeito is very difficult.
Bathroom wasn't clean, shower a bit difficult to use and blankets on bed were stained. The passage down to town has no light so you have to use torches after it gets dark.
Staff was very very helpful.
Situated in Lekeitio, Eguen Goiko provides accommodation with seating area. Private parking is available on site at this recently renovated property.

Everything in the estate was fabulous, tasteful interior and gorgeous architecture.
The host was such a lovely guy, went mountain biking with him, the best way to discover the peaceful surroundings.

we loved that this little town had all we needed for a relaxing three night break. No loud bars or blaring music and no large groups of "Brits Abroad". it is a very Spanish town but we felt very welcome. There is a small town centre with a few nice shops and the harbour has a good number of bar / restaurants to chose from. A very clean beach provides safe swimming. We arrived on a Sunday and the town was buzzing with locals and everything was open. Very diffent picture on Monday and Tuesday with a number of the harbourside establishments closed. A pleasant suprise is at the other end of the town where you can walk aroundpretty gardens with innumerate different trees and shrubs - all labelled. There is also a small aviary collection in the gardens . For a little luxury treat yourself to and afternoon drink and snacks at the Hotel Zubieta - which is in a lovely setting, in the grounds of the Manor House / Palace and is converted from the old stable block. The evening meal is recommended too - but you need to book in advance.

Lekeitio is a magical seaside town on the Basque coast - great harbour, one of Basque's best restaurants (Meson Aeropain), great town to walk in and around the outskirts, including along the coast to the lighthouse.

This is really more a b&b but none the worse for that.
This is really more a b&b but none the worse for that. Great views to the sea, lovely owner and staff, and nice breakfast with freshly cooked bacon and egg, and homemade cakes. Huge room with a nice bathroom, the shower could knock you off your feet! A bit of a drive to the town to eat though. Very easy parking.

Loved running along the sea front, to the Catalina lighthouse, to see the sun rising.
Quiet but not too quiet, and not touristic at the time of year we visited (September).
Also close to lots of other parts of the Basque coast which we wanted to explore.
As a young family our needs were totally met at Villa Itsaso. It was a beautiful period house in a stunning location overlooking Lekeitio bay. The views from our apartment were so beautiful. The kitchenette allowed us to make our own small meals and eat out for dinner. The kids were in heaven with the garden, fountain, piano, ponies and beach. We had lots of space. The drive up the hill is longer than the walk down the path back to town. Beaches are clean and safe with good amenities. Can't recommend it enough!
A beautiful family run boutique hotel perfectly located in the centre of Lekeitio and next to the port and beach. I had a lovely room with antique furniture and little juliet balcony overlooking the plaza and with views of the cathedral and water. Isabelle the owner was extremely kind and generous with her time recommending some lovely bars for pinxtos, walks & places of interest. I had a wonderful few days in Leketio and would love to return and stay here again someday. Gracias Isabelle por todo! 😊
This is the third time we have stayed at the Zubieta and we have always been happy with it. The room was nice and roomy. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good. We have also enjoyed this hotel because of the sitting area in the bar area where we can visit with our family and friends who live in Lekeitio. It is a welcoming and friendly place to stay. We got excellent service from the staff and especially enjoyed Suzanna serving us.
Very helpful hostess who let us check in early and gave us information about where to go in Lekeitio and most importantly where to eat on a Sunday evening. This was Goitiko Jatetxa on the main square near the beach - they made me a vegetarian menu even though there wasn't one on the menu.
The hostal is very modern and clean and comfortable and quite quiet despite being on the main road into town. Not too far to walk there from the bus stop.
Extremely helpful staff! Helped me get a room for a second night very speedily when I unfortunately became ill (not related to the hotel, it was something I ate the day before). Very peacful area (windows open all I could hear were birds). Interior was beautiful as well, older house converted to a hotel and well decorated. Close walk to the city center, beach, and plenty of parking once you realize its beyond the stone arch.
Great location, only a 5 minute walk into the center of the village, and the views were beautiful. The patio was clean and exactly as pictured. The kitchen was well maintained with plenty of utensils and cookware. It was especially nice to have parking in a garage in the same building as parking can be difficult in Lekeitio. I would definately stay here again.
Everything. We had a balcony oceanfront room. It was very comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The parking was across from the hotel and it was easy to get in and out. The breakfast was served in the ocean view dining room. There are plenty bars and restaurants nearby. I would stay there again.
Ideally placed to explore the coast and to enjoy some of Spain’s most picturesque beaches, the hotel itself is a source of interest as to its creation and for the many and interesting pictures that line the walls throughout, keenly elaborated by the host, Ander.
The hotel is gorgeous and exceptionally clean, the staff were all lovely and helpful; the food was delicious and it's just far enough away from the town to feel like you're in the countryside but still only a short walk to the port, beach and bars/restaurants.
Gorgeous hotel with the most beautiful view from the room that I could ask for. It was truly amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and kind, as I was traveling with a toddler. Breakfast was amazing too. This place is 10/10.
The staff were excellent - friendly, helpful, and caring. The food in the hotel restaurant was so good! The view from the back of the hotel was gorgeous. The room had good wi-fi service and a nicely sized bathroom.
Great Location in front of the Beach and very quiet
City center accessible -10 minutes lovely walk
Staff very Nice
