I loved the City it was clean and well maintained. I got lost and a kind Spanish man helped me get back on the Camino.
This man walked with me for 4 kilometres until we found the Camino TRAIL.
Ponferrada the City should mark the Camino trail better than they have. Even signage within the city saying “Camino that way. A few other city residents did not have a clue on how to get back to the Camino. The Knights Templar Castle was a sight to see.

Wonderful Temple knights history, well described during castle visit. Impressive past and great attraction on Camino de Santiago for the thousands of Pilgrims now walking or cycling. An important part of old Spanish history.

We loved staying in the middle of the Old Town with the Castle just 5 minutes' walk away. People were friendly and there are lots of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The drives into the nearby towns and mountains were fabulous. Perfect weather this time of year and not too many tourists. A great place to stop for the many Pilgrims on the Camino trail.
After a long drive we arrived at this quiet and perfectly located hotel, a great base for exploring the area.
Our room was nice, very comfortable, clean and spacious with a view of the nearest park. The staff was nice and helpful, the fact that they have their own parking places in the apartment complex parking a great advantage.
They also have a restaurant and a bar. This time we chose to explore the city.
Would return and recommend it!
A perfect spot right in the historic center, across the basilica of Ponferrada. The appartement is rightly named a suite. The interior is brand new and well designed. It offers all comfort and comfortable beds. And then … the roodtop terrace has an amazing view on the castle and the basilica. The host was great and very helpful. The procedure smooth. Don’t hesitate to book here, and try to stay more than one night!
Its just a good hotel! Good breakfast, quiet rooms, bar etc. Shops nearby. Its near the train station, next to the castle. From the busstation you walk to the nearby fountain and enter the street next to the Encina building. Its the street on the on the left. You walk ten minutes in straight line to the castle. Behind it its the first street LEFT.
It was a quick stay and liked the location. We can't say much of the center walk(didn't go) tho the castle wasn't too far away. Great hotel and there's parking within the neighborhood if there isn't any at the hotel unless you want to pay.
Very good location near the centre of town and castle. Parking garage available at hotel. There were many restaurants nearby so we didn't visit the hotet bar/restaurant.
The hotel was nice- the room was good, and they had a tub, which was great after a long day on the Camino. I did not eat at the restaurant- but breakfast was adequate
Nice, clean hotel with parking (extra). Very near historical center (walking distance). We parked on the street in front of the hotel as that was a cheaper option.
Nice hotel good price in a very nice location here at the centre. Walk-in distance to the basilica of our lady de encina, nice town very romanic arquitectural.
